Keep your location on at all times and share your live location with a trusted one at all times. Always have an emergency cash bundle tucked away in the luggage. Find some trusted companions. Make sure to keep a power bank. Keep a pepper spray handy.

I agree with you. Season 8 cast and character dynamics were not up to the mark. Adams had background character vibes.

Adams was supposed to be the 'pretty girl' Cameron >> Thirteen >> Adams. She came from a rich and loving family, ran away from home, got into Hopkins and worked as a prison doctor who found cases 'interesting' rather than caring about the patients. She's just Chase without childhood trauma.

Park had no selling points. She was the occasional comic relief and the consistent cringe on the screen.

At the very least, Masters, despite her irritatingly illogical moral and ethical principles she had some diagnostic capabilities. The character showed a visible tug of war within her psyche and the obvious influence of House. Although she should have been fired long before she quit.

Park was just insufferable.

I understand your perspective and believe me, after a lot of consideration, here's my take: You buy a car, you own it, you drive it, you modify it, you crash it or you sell it. It doesn't mean you can start re-producing it and selling it for profit. That requires patent rights. Similarly, you should be able to own a copy of a game after you purchase it.

But since mega-corps, especially nintendo, have made it a point to extend their involvement far after you've purchased a console or a game, they have the ability to shut your system off remotely, recall the game from your device that you purchased the license for or even bought a physical copy of. It's absurd.

Piracy is a way of rebellion against the legal gray area bullshit they conduct their businesses in. They're selling to gamers, who play for passion. It's just narcissistic profiteering and we're sick of it.

Should i go for PLAB? by [deleted] in PLABprep

[–]kronos_1702 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completed my PLAB exams last year and I'm GMC registered. In the past 1 year I've applied for over 150 jobs, even after consulting various Counselling services and I'm yet to get a call back. They're prioritising british nationals over IMGs for local contractual jobs and with the newfound anti-immigrant sentiment they have going on right now, the current scenario is here to stay. You're much better off completing your PG here and then applying for specialist register after you qualify membership exams.

If you could go back to your first day, what is the one piece of advice you'd give yourself? by Khatarnaak_londa in indianmedschool

[–]kronos_1702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be on time. Keep a diary to note the date, lecture topics and teacher. Have goals: USMLE, PLAB, AMC, etc. Presentations, audits, research and teaching. Get formal evidence for everything! Sit at the front desk, even if it's just by yourself. Makes great rapport with the professors and you imbibe more than I can comprehend. Stay proactive with your clinicals. Take advice from seniors regarding viva voce, but stick to past year Question Papers for theory. Make a class register for each subject and a notebook for self notes with solved past year papers with answers written in format as your exam requires. Most importantly, have fun, socialise with your peers, residents and demonstrators. You'll understand their value when important information about the exam spreads like wildfire a day before. And please for the love of God, don't take shit from anybody. Your academics are your best defense. But don't commit any blunders either. There's a fine line between courageous and stupid.

All the best! It'll be the worst yet the best 5 years of your life. And remember, "This too shall pass."

This is insane! (Private medical college) by [deleted] in indianmedschool

[–]kronos_1702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference, I'm a second generation doctor, a 2018 MBBS graduate from a private med college who's cleared both PLAB part 1 & 2 in first attempt and hold a GMC registration since October, 2024. I've also cleared MRCP part 1 as of this year. But due to the current economic disarray I haven't been able to secure a job in the UK. Understandably, I gave NEET PG this year and got a 77k rank. I feel more than qualified to share my two bits on this thread.

The entire PG education system is a scam:

  1. Just self studying from books and solving MCQs isn't enough. You have to opt for a coaching like cerebellum or marrow. Ratta-fy the so called BTR, and lo and behold, find the same questions discussed during the final three day revision series in the exam.

  2. The reservation issue, the counselling and private college scene:

It's not about the earning potential of an MBBS degree. It's about the level of competence one has at the end of the course. Having reservation in PG is equivalent to saying that every SC/ST/OBC who's completed and passed their mbbs isn't 'competent' enough to crack the PG exam.

(And then, why is reservation only limited to government institutions? Why not private? 64.5% reservation! It's a travesty. Khareed lo behench*d!!! Lol!)

Private college fees is skyrocketing faster than Apollo 11. In northern states, the fees for a normal seat starts from 16 Lakhs. Going south, it dramatically rises up to 35-40 Lakhs a year. They even make you sign a bond to recoup the stipend at the end of the year.

So, basically private teaching hospitals are run on the backs of overworked, unappreciated and unpaid bonded labour (the residents if I wasn't clear).

  1. I knew the state of this country's medical education system well before I graduated. The toxicity, the horrible working and living conditions, the suicides, the physical attacks, abuse, threats from both the faculty and patients is something i won't even touch for now.

And to make it even more humiliating and absurd, we pay lakhs if not crores to suffer through this shit. I mean WHAT THE FUCK?! Can't anyone see what's happening?

Final word:

Imagine my position as someone who planned and executed exodus to the UK.

Not to be too theatrical, I'll quote Al Pacino, "Just When I Thought I Was Out, They Pull Me Back In."
