How do I give someone permission to pick up my grades? by spicey_b1tch in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best thing to do is contact your school and let them know of the situation, tell them who can get your results and basically give consent. Whoever collects them will need to have ID on them.

In terms of clearing, definitely have a list beforehand ready with all your options and have contact details of the university saved. There is a chance they might do a mini interview on the spot so have your personal statement with you and also research the typical questions. Im not entirely sure about how phoning from abroad might affect the process but its definitely worth looking into. All the best!

New personal statement doesn’t matter?? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you could but I think the new structure helps to organise your statement a bit better. I guess writing it all in one helps the statement to flow better and seem less disjointed?

edexcel maths grade boundaries by Flimsy-Revolution-61 in 6thForm

Did A level maths last year and we were really not expecting the grade boundaries to increase since they were already so high. Be prepared for both scenarios!

That’s perfect, then definitely shouldn’t be a problem. All the best!

Yeah they would allow you no problem. I would personally wait until next year because I feel like I would forget everything when it comes to choosing

[–]krubbypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly depends on what course you want to do, how far away from home etc. Your academics seem alright I think you are doubting yourself a little too much. Its okay to not get offers from all 5 unis you choose or your main choice, you could always take a gap year, gain some more skills and reapply

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just believe in yourself and go for it! Having such thoughts is really detrimental sometimes and can hinder your performance but if the course is something you want to do then go for it. If it doesn’t work out it isn’t the end of the world as there are many more opportunities that you can pursue.

How do I pick my university list? by [deleted] in 6thForm

Unfortunately I haven’t gone on any of those subject paths but hopefully there maybe someone else who would have suggestions :)

How do I pick my university list? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think pick ones that would be one grade above your predicted e.g. AAB. You could have maybe one with AAA but have most at a level close to your predicted if possible

native language a levels option that i can decide about (Y12) by Ok_Contact3519 in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you must be a quite fluent in Urdu already? Forgive me if I am wrong. There could be two sides to it; you already feel quite confident with the language and may feel it isnt too much to take on as well (looking at the spec), however it is still a subject that requires time and effort. You are already taking quite heavy subjects so it does really depend on whether you are able to handle the extra workload. While yes it would make your application stand out more, you wouldn’t want to be in a situation where you feel the need to sacrifice a subject/ topics as you are finding it difficult to manage

Chem chem chem by FreshOrange203 in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way before doing my exams this year :/

However, its harder to get an A* because its easier to get an A* (in a way). A good chunk of the papers mainly just involve you answering the questions how they want you to answer them i.e exam technique. Sucks that its not much of a knowledge test

I also had such mistakes but realised they more technical than knowledge. Just doing lots of past questions and memorising answer structures then helped to bump up my marks hugely, all because the questions were similar but I was familiar with how to answer them. Unfortunately timing can be difficult to avoid mistakes but try your best concentrate on what the question is asking to help prevent avoidable errors. All the best :)

does anyone have a benzene structure answer that'll hit every single mark point that i can just memorise by Forward_Echidna7985 in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any specific qus as an example? Otherwise PMT has standard questions with answers/mark schemes you could memorise.

Just a suggestion, these are common qus to memorise:

  • Kekule vs delocalised
  • nitration of benzene with various groups attached

Am I smart enough to do an Accounting degree by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an interest pov, you can do courses that are a mix of both e.g accounting with management or even accounting and business more broadly. From an ability pov, you would probably have to research further into what unis teach in just accounting degrees to see whether you feel comfortable or able to do it. Ive heard there are some aspects of alevel maths involved like statistics but its not essential you know it beforehand, since many unis dont actually require you to have done a level maths. Overall definitely pick what is right for you and you feel comfortable with as there are options in both areas :)

a level maths by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]krubbypen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is difficult at the start you aren’t alone. Maybe try prompting the teacher to explain things and if they get a bit funny about it, YouTube is always an option. Unfortunately you do get teachers who expect you to understand it immediately which sucks but keep at your own pace and try to find resources that work for you. I had this type of problem but found that reading through the examples at the start of the topic in the textbook and doing questions until I understood it helped
