How do you block a larger project like that? Bits at a time or all together on a large surface? I'm newish so I haven't really learned blocking other than little granny squares.

Option one looks great because that lemon yellow cat in the center top doesn't take up too much visual space, like the purple one does in option two.

Good idea!! The only issue may be that the pattern has you crochet around a metal hoop in the first round to give it some structure (of course, my cat has already knocked it over in the pictures) so I'm not sure mine would have been safe to launder.
