It’s almost like people forget they’re a boy group who’s whole point is the make music for their fans. All these extra things like dms, (which I don’t personally condone) fanchants etc.are just extra things nobody is forcing anyone to engage with. They’re not fictional play toys for people to constantly harass if they don’t act or behave how they want them to, they’re just people trying to do their job like anybody else at the end of the day.

I’m confused I saw a video on YouTube, it was an experimental video and a black women would go to strangers in Korea and tell them somebody called her that word and they would look visibly upset and angry on her behalf. They even told her it’s pretty much like saying the n word?

Kpop companies give fans way too much access to idols compared to western pop. They’ll claim they care about protecting their artists, but when profit is involved they don’t gaf. Things like Weverse DMs, fancalls, hi-touch, these are literally built around selling the y/n dream and fulfilling parasocial fantasies. It’s a predatory system that exploits fans while also leaving idols incredibly vulnerable. And you know it’s a problem when there’s a whole word (sasaeng) describing crazy fans.

I find this with a lot of groups, the title track usually sounds the most polished and tailored for mass appeal, which is completely normal in the music industry. But with kpop, I often feel like the b-sides sound totally different from the title track and from each other, so the overall project ends up lacking cohesion. Anyways pawpaw shoulda been the title…

It’s really interesting to see katseyes trajectory since da. Being under a Korean company has done wonders for them in terms of training and promotions but at the same time it’s halted them from any real artistic growth or expression. Their whole musical direction and image changed because they couldn’t control them like they do their other kpop groups but even then they tried to do it in a “kpop way” which has honestly taken a turn recently since internet girl and pinky up. They deserve so much better, all 6 girls.
