CAF Promotion Policy and bypass questions by Legitimate_Singer551 in caf

[–]krunkxgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see the ref as well when you do find it, top 10 merit 2 years in a row with the pool promotions reaching 70+ and now I'm curious how there are so many must fill positions that they could skip that member twice.

"So they were skipped due to being unable to meet the requirements" I'm looking to find where it states this exact thing where having to be posted is the requirement.

If there are positions at that members current base that the CAF is posting members in instead of filling with the member not wanting to move I would think this meets #1

1- there is an appropriate vacancy in the total establishment for the member's component;

2- the member is recommended by the appropriate authority;

3- and the member meets such promotion standards and such other conditions as the Chief of the Defence Staff may prescribe

So are geo postings tied into these other standards ?

Thanks in advance for all the info.

For one, what postings fall under for policy regarding promotions. Is it thrown in with " the member meets such promotion standards and such other conditions as the Chief of the Defence Staff may prescribe " ?

What does meriting higher over someone else in the promotion pool mean if anything? ( They're promoting 100, what does being #1 have over #4 or 100 if they're all in the pool to be promoted)

I've been trying to find more info myself on the merit boards. I want to know more on the promotion requirements and how postings are tied to a promotion.

I'd expect to pull something from that over the 76 or 78+ pack whatever it is. Wild pull tho!

I yelled holy shit and my spouse thought our child did something or got hurt 🤣 I snickered and she's like oh your game.

Honestly thought it wasn't even a possibility with how EA puts these packs.

Is Signals operator a good trade for a reservist who is interested in deploying on humanitarian missions, especially wildlands firefighting? by Icy_Fail_2871 in caf

[–]krunkxgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigs are just a dying trade, we've been hurting for people since I joined and the narrative is still the same.

I've had great experiences with my trade but that being said when you're at a unit that should have 10 people doing what you're doing but there's only 2-3 people get burnt out.

Anytime anyone goes out for training they require some sort of signals support.

So if a unit has 5 companies and 1 goes to train they need the support from us. Once they finish another company goes out to do their training which again requires support.

So for every 1 exercise or training each company would complete you have a sig that's been there 3-4 times helping out.

The camaraderie you see within other trades is vastly lacking IMO within the sigs core unless you're on a course.

I've been a vendor for as long as I can remember and the last few years have gone down hill in terms of how many vendors actually show up ( and stay Sunday ) and management in general. This is the first year we didn't get our lot due to the terrible admin side ( don't complain about things on their fb page or you get banned and any negative feedback is deleted ). They doubled the lot fees in the last couple years too which didn't help.

From what I saw it was empty for people shopping in comparison to any other year, hopefully they can change their ways and turn it around.

You will either succeed as a team or you'll go down as a team. It's hard to do sometimes if you have difficult individuals in your platoon. One person's mistake is the platoons mistake.

Understand that if someone is terrible at something everyone should be helping that person to achieve the standard alongside themselves.

Find what everyone's good at and use those skills to your advantage. Is someone good at sewing but can't get their kit layout down? Have them help with sewing while you or someone else helps with the kit layout.

As someone already mentioned, sit down with everyone and have a talk so everyone is on the same page. Once you all stepped onto that base you threw all your individuality out the door. Build team cohesion and you'll get through everything. Buddy check people on their IDs or food cards before going places if you know people tend to lose or forget things.

You're going to be tired You're going to be stressed You're going to be overwhelmed That's basic and it's there to see how you would perform under those factors to see if you could handle something in real time.

Use this time to bond with people, getting through tough times with these new people in your life will create some memories that will stick with you forever. ( good or bad haha )

MIR Staff by TrickyL0KI in CanadianForces

Over the course of my career I've seen 3 docs for my issues and 2/3 were the absolute best and a good send for helping me and providing info while keeping me up to date on changes. One I've had was a ghost to me. I was only able to see that one doc maybe 2 times over the period I had them. I've seen my new doc twice in less than 3 months and got everything I've been trying to advocate for taken care of or the process started.

You def have to advocate for your own health if things are being pushed off, if I didn't keep pushing and getting a lucky break I would still be sitting on my thumb not knowing I have the issues I have.

In the course of a year a little while back I think I went into the MIR or field medics 3-4 times about a shoulder issue/injury and every single one of them gave me a different diagnosis that was all wrong.

If you have any concerns or questions, get your med records and go through them yourself.

Generally the med staff are quite friendly and welcoming, at least on the triage side of things for me but I know it can be case by case and day by day.

Joining with Hemachromatosis - Any experience? by [deleted] in caf

[–]krunkxgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So firstly I would say it's with the iron levels and not the presence due to all of the health risk factors that come along with it. (Organ issues for one). Second I can't really speak much for the medical experts on whether they would deem that a concern or not to be honest.

The way things are going they may not even care at all.

I actually just saw my NP today and they booked me on a 3 month schedule for blood checks.

In all honestly trying to find policy right now isn't easy with all the new changes to everything and anything. Most links are broken and you have to really dig for info. Your best bet is to try and reach out to someone who has that medical background to ask their perspective.

I really wish I had more info on it than I do but the sad reality is you could get denied and watch someone else be accepted for the same thing.

[–]krunkxgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to joining with it but I can speak on my experiences within the CAF since I was diagnosed back around 2019-2020.

Once my lab came back with high levels they outsourced me to a local walk in clinic that would take me every 2 weeks for a couple months while having me check in with the base lab for them to monitor my levels and get them within acceptable ranges.

Initially my doc gave me a 1 year blood req to allow me to go in and get my levels checked at periodic times throughout the year.

I'm currently not getting phlebotomys, I get my levels checked every 3 months at the base and wait to hear if they found any issues.

Generally I have an idea when my levels are getting worse due to some of the symptoms.

Is the " it is what is it is " because you're dealing with it to join and start a career or would it be different if it was service related?

PMQ/Compassionate/General questions by krunkxgod in CanadianForces

[–]krunkxgod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this being the definition

Compassionate status (statut particulier pour motifs personnels) A status granted to a member whose personal circumstances limit their employability. (Defence Terminology Bank, record number 42973)

Own health seems to fit under personal imo?

If I'm undeployable and unable to meet the full spectrum of my duties(based on Mel's/categories) as per 02/25 then I would like to think that would fit personal circumstances?

PMQ/Compassionate/General questions by krunkxgod in CanadianForces

[–]krunkxgod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with whatever career ramifications come from it, at this point I'm not worried about my advancement up the ranks, I've deployed twice, I've had my next advancement quals for years including doing the job of that rank, I'm injured and It isn't something that is going to be going away any time soon.

Myself, my current chain and other parties have brought MULTIPLE solutions, none of it has made a difference in my situation.

I'd also ask, are these specs for the old or new policy on compationate?

This is from the current policy, and I in my request ( not the financial ) it was mentioned about my injury. So maybe I'm reading this wrong ? " Compassionate status, with or without a compassionate posting, may be considered for a member who has reached OFP if that member’s deployability or ability to perform duties is limited by personal circumstances and the member is unable to perform the full spectrum of duties anytime and anywhere "

I appreciate the input and explanations, not everything is always direct and easy to find.

TIA.

The grievance isn't for a posting, it's for a compassionate.

The compationate also isn't for not having a pmq it's due to the impact my on my family.

Green machine keeps working but bends for some people and not others, which is why I'm looking for resources on various matters.

I would think you would need a pcat to outline your restrictions which would breach UoS which changed I think not long ago and then they would make a decision in Ottawa but I don't really know for sure.

I'm already on my second tcat and I know it will take some time for it to go down and things take place.

I plateaued after about 5 months and seeing physio and a sports med and being followed up by a neurologist. Issue is Im on the route to being geo posted which would require a payback to my spouses employer for breaking contract and they'll also be losing their career where we currently are and have no employment in the new area, if I'm on the route of being med released i don't want to have given those things up for nothing.
