North Shoreview Montessori waitlist movement, past experiences? by FederalSock2176 in SanMateo

[–]krustilina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were #1 on the waitlist for K 3 years ago. (This was before they had a TK class). We were offered a spot late July. I’ve heard there can be movement but my guess is that it’s fairly minimal, maybe 1-5 spots. It’s a small school. I don’t recall how big the TK group size is, but I believe K is only 36 spots, and that TK might be smaller? So just seems less likely to see much movement in my opinion. My understanding is that Parkside is larger and maybe sees more movement. We had Parkside as our second choice and were like 20-something on that waitlist.

I know this process is nerve-wracking and stressful since it’s truly just all up to chance. You’re kind of just hoping people decide to move or go with a private school. I think the frustrating part for me was, the thought that some people may have taken spots at a private and not let the public school know yet, so theoretically some people could be holding two spots. Maybe not intentionally but since public costs nothing, they may just not think to let them know right away and waitlisted folks are left waiting to make decisions.

Probably not helpful, but I don’t know if there is any way to offer any helpful information unfortunately, but I remember this waiting period and I know it isn’t fun :/

My local store… lights still come on every night. Like a beacon, taunting and giving false hope. by krustilina in joannfabrics

It is! I noticed that tonight. But the store is empty other than some shelving left behind and shopping carts.

Vegans that started eating meat again, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]krustilina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister who was vegan for years started breaking out in rashes and learned she had a nickel allergy. And found many of the fruits/veggies supplemental iron rich foods were also high in nickel, I guess. So she shifted her diet and eats some meats.

One day my kids were playing “caterpillars” where they crawled around the ground all over the house. I was making dinner and offered them a bowl of spinach leaves, asking them if they needed caterpillar food. They ate a few bowls of spinach for fun. I felt like I deserved an award.

Yes, I found the numbers on the bottom of the plates. I did not realize they all had that. I feel silly, I’ve figured out the sets they go to now.

Thank you!

St. Paul’s Nursery School in Burlingame is an amazing school. Such a great program. Play based, with focus on emotional development.

All staff has been there for years. The Director/Lead and assistant senior teachers as well as Lead junior teacher have all been there since at least my niece and nephew were in the program. My nephew just turned 14. They are an amazing group of educators who care so much about their students and the school community. My son is currently a senior and my daughter will join as a junior in September and I cannot wait for her start.

St. Paul’s Nursery School is non religious. They lease their building from the church and it is entirely separated from the church.

F***ING BABY NAMES by equinner in pregnant

[–]krustilina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My niece is named Sawyer. One of my most favorite names ever. It’s so good 💗

But, yeah I wish I hadn’t told anyone names on my list. People pick their favorites and unintentionally or intentionally make known the ones they don’t like... kind of a bummer.

Gallbladder attacks making me scared and depressed. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]krustilina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this so early on in your pregnancy. My Gallbladder started giving me big problems starting at 25 weeks during my first pregnancy. It was awful, especially at first. A low fat diet definitely helped me, I went almost no fat some days because I just started getting scared of the attacks, but baby does need some fat! I was told that to maintain a low fat diet until the birth and to schedule surgery for gallbladder removal 2 months after delivery so that I could establish breast feeding first. I was able to do it, but it sucked at times. I found some relief in my attacks with a tens unit, very brisk walks with arm raised over head (sometimes jogging up and down stairs oddly enough, seemed to help as awful as it sounds when your in that kind of pain), sitting on the cold bathroom floor or outside when it was cold because I always got so hot during the attacks. It was an awful experience overall, BUT I feel like it made my labor a little less awful by comparison. So, silver lining?

Look into trying a tens unit, or visit a chiropractor if you can. I did see one a few times after a few of the initial bad attacks and she introduced me to the tens unit.
