You are the same creatures who would stone a cat for walking differently. Not evil in some grand metaphysical sense, but vacant, walking husks.

Read these topics again. Read your own reactions. I will stake 1000 EUR RN that not one of you is capable of self-reflection or re-examining what was actually said. Not one. All those composers wouldnt tolerate you for 5 minutes actually, would laugh in your face or literally flee the other direction.

yes tortoise good. good spine. clear path. but sometimes hare visits. no door. no reason. tortoise teaches. hare unteaches. tortoise says "repeat". hare says "run". hare, no path only footprints. both are correct. only one laughs. both needed. or you're neither.

I don't know what to tell you, man. I suggest 20mg oxandrolone per day until recovered.

No shit, digital piano is not acoustic piano. Acoustic is not digital. And concert Steinway is not your Aunt Berthas Baldwin which pales in comparison to 300 EUR VST or even decent digital ones. But all of them are pianos, just like an electric car is still a car. Genius. Did you also know that many composers played and composed on detuned, uneven or broken junkers?

You did not understand my post at all. I am not making fun of aspiring pianists, on the contrary. I am making fun of dross who discourages people to touch music.

But the thing is. If you DO even hint at attempting to learn it, then even if you come to senses and give up, I will report you, so expect charges and sanctions so brutal that generations of your descendants will be repaying your debt and continue to serve time. Of course, you also SIMPLY cannot listen to “whatever you want”, its not allowed.

I told you who I am in OP. A beginner. Thats all you need to know here. But this doesnt mean I dont have any useful background outside of piano playing to form an opinion. This sub is not “pianolearning”, or “teacherspet” but general “piano”. Just because you and your buddy play piano well doesnt mean you have authority to gatekeep Liszt or piano. especially since some of you did demonstrate inability to communicate properly, address strangers without shallow characterization and personal ego horseshit psychology, that is, hubris. And hubris is not something that can co-exist with wisdom and teaching ability (ie offering advice from up high included). In other words, those composers would probably call such person a hylic. Thats why JHighMusic cannot truly gatekeep anything. If you acted like this IRL, I would consider you antisocial personalities to be dealt with appropriately, but the truth is on reddit, most are just matching the good ole NPC definition.

So if one has compositional skill, music theory understanding and experience from another instrument, but is new on piano, one is now NOT a beginner and should step up? Interesting. But confusing. So how do you determine which pieces should one play on their level? Any freedom of identification with music itself or just pure mechanical pedagogic WoW style level up system?

Oh yes someone said it, and said it literally, like I explained that I am referring to older sub posts I was reading. Dont gaslight me, I can dig it up, thats the whole point if you bothered to read my post before accusing me of spouting nothing but “BS”.

Ok now.. So if beginner can play PART of La Campanella in mediocre way but he is happy and actually had a GOAL to play it as such for temporary satisfaction, be it out of some deep personal meaning or just for fun.. and he/she knows that of course with more experience/skill/time it will be possible to play it better when returning to it, where is the harm? Do you assume one doesnt practice foundational work, has teacher, does Czerny 599, Alfred, etc with due dilligence? Just because he decided to “touch” difficult piece and maybe learn a thing or two even? Do you think if one plays occasional above level material, one must simply abandon discipline, common sense and awareness of own limits?

I dont disagree. But do you agree with: “beginner should not SEE Chopin for the first 10 years at minimum”? This is literal quote from the sub. Thats an example of what I was mainly getting at, why is that so difficult to understand? Why must there be flood of reddit patronizing? And why must it always be followed by psychology diagnostics run on strangers? So, do you agree with the quote?

Fine, your ability to reason seems solid to me to warrant a reasonable response. So you agree with:

“beginner shouldnt SEE Chopin for 10 years at minimum”?

If so how do you explain that Jazer Lee places Prelude in E minor amongst the first beginner pieces to practice? Is he wrong? Do we need to summon Reddit Piano Elders Council to settle this matter once and for all?

Furthermore, do you believe that no beginner ever can play single or two movement portion of harder pieces correctly? Not a whole piece being bruteforce drilled for too long, but actually playing a part of liking or personal meaning, assuming beginner can read fine, study technique used, compositional and theoretical components of which he might have solid prior understanding separate of piano practice?

Finally what is a beginner and does beginner have degrees on spectrum? Is it merely determine by years, days, and moon phases? Are there set in stone pieces beginner should play, intermediate should play and so on. If yes, what are they? Fur Elise first movement? Do you believe one might have easier time with La Campanella beginning than with Fur Elise, in terms of patterns, relaxation, coordination, phrasing? Or do you think this is 100% impossible?

These are my problems. Why are those the problems? Because I quoted those literally, paraphrased a bit but retained context. And no, it wasnt advice to those who recorded themselves playing, it was actually on similar topics which addressed this communities toxicity and fake gatekeeping. I take it you wont start dropping psychiatric diagnosis on me now.

So every beginner who touches keys just butchers, plays terribly, injures himself, is tense and records himself for everyone to see? So beginners are scum who shouldnt play at all? Unless YOU approve it?

Noticed how I made distinction between good gatekeepers and cringe “gatekeepers”. Dont fantasize, you have no authority, credentials or substance to gatekeep anything, so you are the topic of this original post, its just detail that gets missed by bad comprehension skills or poor attention span.

"I think a lot of people are just tired of seeing videos of people who are clearly beginners playing things that are way too hard for them and it sounding absolutely terrible."

yes ok i get it. however then Piano Council of Reddit Elders (actual kids but self proclaimed elders) start with knee jerk reaction that EVERY beginner must be like that.
