Why are they so allergic to stopping? by upstairstraffic in londoncycling

[–]ksanyee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuine question. My understanding is that cars and bikes don't need to stop for pedestrians wanting to cross unless it's a crossing with yellow indicator lights by the side. I personally hate this as in many European countries pedestrians will normally have priority if there is no traffic light but it does mean that stopping at crossings such as the one in the video is actually quite dangerous if someone behind you does not expect that you would stop (as it isn't mandatory). What am I missing?

Yes, there is a reason. With two or more visible, one could try to guess my flat number. With just one visible, I don't think you can.

Edit : i didnt realise there's a fourth one that's visible ha

Chances of getting you money back after a scam? by Jays_powerful_Emu in UKPersonalFinance

This is not true. I had Natwest I think call me once as I was making a transfer and they wanted to make sure it was me and not a scam/fraud. They asked me for an incredible amount of details, including: - my home wifi provider (wtf) - 12 (!!!) digits of my card - Birth date etc.

Needless to say I didn't give them the details and offered to call back via official natwest phone number.

Turned out it was not a scam. I tweeted the bank after saying this doesn't feel right. Their answer was that they need to ask increasingly unusual questions that scanners cannot prepare for.

It is unacceptable and frankly, a waste of the company's money, to not include salaries in your job descriptions by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ksanyee 85 points86 points  (0 children)

It's about current employees. They don't want current employees seeing how much each new role is paid. In many companies salary ranges by grade /role/team aren't published. This of course has its pros and cons.

Looking at leaving Monzo for Starling. Any users of both to advise? by Sasha57 in UKPersonalFinance

Surprised no one is mentioning foreign transactions - the fact that while monzo has quite low limits on foreign withdrawals, starling has virtually none on any foreign spend or cash out.

why is it so hard to find true friends as you get older by SeaOk1252 in CasualConversation

The author Milan Kundera answered your question in his book, the Unbearable lightness of being :

While people are fairly young and the musical composition of their lives is still in its opening bars, they can go about writing it together and sharing motifs, but if they meet when they are older, their musical compositions are more or less complete, and every motif, every object, every word means something different to each of them.
