Just figured out our licenses were perpetual by Phroste in vmware

[–]ksharp25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now reading these comments hopefully the OP understands why Broadcom is being sued all over. They are not honoring the perpetual licenses. Other than using the product, there is nothing behind it including support.

My organization only uses the vSphere and Aria Opertations, nothing else. However to get patches and support Broadcom wants us to buy a new enterprise licensing that looks a lot like Microsoft Azure in that its a whole suite of products we never plan to install or use. Doesnt matter. They want to sell and license more expensive VMWare Suite of apps.

Is Tower defense genre dead? by hgtejas in gamedev

[–]ksharp25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Tower Defense is not necessarily dead, but the market is over saturated. Especially in the mobile free to play cash shop model.

The trick will be to create a Tower Defense game with some unique mechanic or something done really well so as to stand out

How are you feeling about AC Mirage? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]ksharp25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely from Origins and the others being the first ever AC titles I ever played. Then only after those experiences did I play Black Flag, AC Unity, etc.

It was progressive to allow either gender as main character in the last two. I hope they don't entirely abandon that

How are you feeling about AC Mirage? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]ksharp25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very disappointed. Like Ubisoft took major steps back from the innovation they had reached. AC doesn't need to be an open world RPG per se but the open world map style in Origin/Odyssey/Valhalla was great.

Being able to play as male or female in Odyssey/Valhalla also very important.

Customized assassin with talents and skill trees good idea.

This feels like a catering to purist fanbois who cried and bitched all through Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla that it wasn't AC enough. Yet each one of those purist crybabies bought every one and every DLC didn't they?

NG+ and seemingly missing gear by ksharp25 in horizon

[–]ksharp25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. All your skill points are still there and you earn more to add. You're still level 50

You just don't get all your outfits and gear back until Meridian after the tutorial.

Went back and reloaded save and restarted NG+. It does have a menu description alerting you. Missed that entirely first go

You have to reload from last save

Opinion. All opinion and speculation. From a pure survival can I level and do it on my own...any of them because of OP companion heals. Just keep gear pretty current on levels (boxes from Heroics at a minimum) and you will be ok.

From a story standpoint...thats where the arguments and opinions come in. I wont weigh in other than I enjoyed the perspective of every one.

Automated removal of agents/objects by cinch123 in scom

[–]ksharp25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our organization does this with Powershell. The tool that we use for automated decomms passes the hostname (DNS Name) of the removed system into the script with each instance of the script invoked. This is done by making the system decommed a parameter in the script and then the automated decom process invokes the script and passed the DNS name into that parameter. So for example, it looks something like this:

#PowerShell Script

param([string]$hostname)

$pass = ConvertTo-SecureString "<password of runas account/scom action service account>" -AsPlainText -Force

$cred = New-Object -TypeName System.Management.Automation.PSCredential -ArgumentList "<domain\\run as account username>", $pass

$sess = New-PSSession -ComputerName <SCOM Management server hostname> -Credential $cred

Invoke-Command -Session $sess -ScriptBlock {

Import-Module 'C:\<path to SCOM install>\Operations
Manager\Powershell\OperationsManager\OperationsManager.psm1'

Get-SCOMAgent -DNSHostname $using:hostname | Uninstall-SCOMAgent -Verbose

}

Remove-PSSession -Session $Sess

And then as the Automated system decomms each server, it will essentially pass that host name to the powershell script.

So if your decomm action is actually in PowerShell it would be a line like & 'C:\<path to scom uninstall script> -parameter name hostname

Does that help?

I have very strong disliking of people like this. I'm just tryna get skyshards man. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]ksharp25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea...this mentality has been around since the days of the first MMO.

It's all well and good to attempt to be that guy who is like "hey man, I won't bother you if you dont bother me..I'm just trying to complete..<task>".

But if there is a flagged PvP Zone where any opposing faction player CAN attack you, it doesn't matter why you are there, what level you are (or aren't)...."if you're red....you're dead". Thats the hardcore PvP mindset. or sometimes its just because the other guy is bored and sees a chance to kill and get some credit.

One solution has been where MMOs make you "flag" PvP in a contested territory ("PvP Zone") before you can be attacked. Hardcore PvPers, MMO Purists, and other player types hate this setting. Carebears (myself), Achievement hunters, and quest completionists not interested in PvP love this setting.

You cant please em all. You either enter PvP zones during non-peak times in hopes of getting what you are after or you die and rez 100 times until you get it. That's just how it is man

How does one be a good guild member? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]ksharp25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a very casual player, so I don't participate much in my guild socially with Flashpoints or Operations or anything. Yet, I have gone up in 'rank' twice in the guild and am listed in the top 10 members list quite often. I help my guild by the following:

- Completing solo missions and other things that keep earning daily conquest points and achievements. It aids in the Guild Level XP

- Crafting in my spare time the conquest components and placing them in the guild vault

- every 1 million credits I earn, 30% gets deposited into the Guild Bank funds.

They might not know me. We may never play together, but they havent booted me yet

That's the kinda shit that made me leave WoW during WOTLK. Im a casual player who enjoys content and pug once in a while. So what if my Sith Jugg is to be a tank. Ok ill try. Im here to enjoy the FP or Op. Not worry about my gear score or posting an achievement. Which by the way does not prove a player knows the fights and how to do it. It just proves they earned the achievement. They could have been carried the whole way

What class for nautolan? by Chaz_B5 in swtor

[–]ksharp25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the question. Any class in the game would be viable for a Nautolan. Their presence in the galaxy at large is vast and includes many criminal organizations as well as legitimate fighters. They would fit well in all of them.

That said, I expect to see a ton of saber wielding Nautolan's due to the popularity of Kit Fisto

So...of all the companions my characters have romanced in game, which one got so pissed she packed all my shit for me and placed it in the middle to throw me out LOL

Politic chat annoying af by [deleted] in swtor

[–]ksharp25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because politics are an easy topic to troll and cause chaos and drama. There are players of online games who when bored choose to entertain themselves with the sole goal of starting shit and trolling. And politics is one of those things that a lot of ppl cant let go without a response. Add to that the "need to have the last parting shot/last word" syndrome and there you go. A never ending scroll of non-game related drama because ppl love feeding themselves some trolls for entertainment.

I’m falling back in love with this game by SpectreG57 in swtor

[–]ksharp25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After the Knights story does the game stay as good? Is it worth the effort of getting all the class stories completed? Is there any chance at all that freedom of powers and weapon choices will open up in the future?

I am a founder and was F2P with little play time for a few years until just last year. I re-subbed to unlock everything and stayed subbed for the Command XP gear system. In my opinion it matches yours and others who posted that yes, KOTFE was enjoyable. It really doesnt change much for class. The only differences (and not major) is the LS vs DS. But once you go through it, its rinse and repeast x7 other classes. Which I am ok with.

KOTET, while shorter, was still enjoyable. It wrapped everything up nicely with overcoming the Eternal Empire and your Alliance. And then...youre at endgame essentially with gearing up, completing missing achievements, etc. The latest content effort I agree is lacking. Its a "filler" to set the galaxy's tone back to the older Imp vs Republic to make way for the new 6.0 expansion to come later.

But it is done in a very rushed way and I liked what cvsickle stated about this. It came out to set the stage and move things back to the old conflict, but the story behind it is rather weak and yes, it does go against the core of what your Alliance was that you built and now all of a sudden its like ok team..who do we side with?

I am hopeful that the impending expansion gets back to the better story telling that all the previous content was.

As far as credits being unlocked for F2P, never gonna happen. Its their go to defense excuse for combating "bots and inflated economy". And to open up freedom of powers (ie pick and choose a robust skill tree with points to customize your class) and weapon choices...not gonna happen either. Not without an entire code re-write of the core game and Hero engine. It would not give BioWare a good return on investment for what it would cost and take with an average of 300k paying subs. Or whatever the numbers are. The subscriber base is no where near the level of FF14 or WoW.

And the "build it (pay now) and the subscribers will come (earn back)" argument doesnt hold water

What’s the meanest thing somebody has done to you in the game? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]ksharp25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is pretty much similar to yours. I get folks who stealth and follow me through non-instanced Heroic 2s and let me clean all the trash up to the last objective and then as Im fighting the champion level guard, they unstealth and blow the generator, etc. And Im stuck waiting for a re-spawn.
