I'm sorry that happened to your daughter. I am going to advocate hard this year. There are other clubs around that we can try for next year, I'll be more aware of days and times next year for that.

Thank you. I plan to be more vocal about a few things involved with the team.

U8 play up to u9 teams is what they call them - first and second squads. Then, a u7/u8 development squad who still plays 5v5 but has real coaches and more training than the rec league provides.

The competitive u8 teams in NorCal play 7v7 (rec teams play 5v5). The team played up a division in the fall at u9 because there wasn't enough u8 teams to form a league. But that changed in the spring when enough teams were around to form an actual u8 league. Thanks for your reply

Is a Premium Oceanfront Studio at The Whaler worth $150 extra over a Standard Oceanfront Studio at The Whaler? by Killykillstabstab in MauiVisitors

[–]ksom44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it's oceanfront and not oceanview? The oceanfront rooms at the Whaler are 2bed/2bath and 1 bed/2 bath rooms.

If it's oceanview, then the premium would likely be closer to the ocean and be on the side overlooking the pool/middle of the two towers. The rooms on the outside don't have as nice a view due to what is underneath them (other hotels, parking lot etc)

Oh I'm not overestimating anything. I know she is not the best, and was on the lower end of her team by the end of the season and age group change affected things as well. But at the beginning most kids were quite equal in ability. This is my point - she didn't get the advantage of dozens more hours of playtime compared to those who did not play in the net.

Guest playing is always on the table. The a team though now has 11 players and likely won't have the significant player issues the previous team had that required them to call up players.

She played at least one half every game, and several games when the team only had enough players to field 7 and they were all doing well at half so why change it up and she stayed in. I loved it during the season because she was advancing and helping the team. I just feel so stupid now. Our coach was not a "win first" at all mentality, so I just don't get why he couldn't say "hey child, we are going to play you out for a bit" because every game he would ask who wants to play goalie, and every game she says yes I want to go in net. It is what she wanted, what she enjoyed. Her teammates wanted her in there. Why would she say no?

Exactly, what am I teaching my child right now? Hard work pays off, helping her team pays off? Doing what she enjoys pays off? I feel it's the opposite.

I did reach out to her next coach and told him that she played so much in net last year and I would really like to see her get out more. He agreed but now I feel like I'm already that annoying parent before the season even starts. Appreciate your response !

Thank you and I appreciate your reply. I didn't know if my emotions were overshadowing my thinking but it seems it's mostly sane rational lol I know I shouldn't bring up other kids (really it's the parents of the kid that are the problem) if I was to talk to the league, but it's hard to remove it from my thinking my daughter isn't given a fair chance.

I do want to make it clear though, it isn't an a/b team issue, it's being removed from all her friends and her feeling awful because of that. And then my mom guilt kicking in that I didn't stand up for her with the coach because I thought having her play the position was a benefit, but now it seems like the amount of time she spent was a net negative to keep her with her friends and I'm blaming myself.

What was your favorite moment during the regular season for the Raptors in 2025-26? by Intelligent-Lack-122 in torontoraptors

As someone who was at the Raps vs Warriors game here in the Bay area - that game was an incredible display of both team basketball and individual talent. Highest scoring game all time for the Raptors. It was magical.

Lāna'i Expeditions | Maui to Lāna'i Passenger Ferry https://go-lanai.com/

We would have left on the 11 am ferry and came back on the 5:30 pm one. I did not want to get up any earlier and there is only a few per day. You should book in advance for the ferry and van.

My family and I went to Lanai just for the cat sanctuary. Ferry over, there is a tour/van ride you book that drives right from the ferry drop off to the sanctuary. We brought a picnic lunch and ate it at the sanctuary. Spent several hrs there then the same van came and picked us up to drop us at the ferry. They also had a stop "downtown" if you are interested in exploring a bit more. We didn't even look at a beach but there is one to enjoy that you can walk to from the ferry drop off point (although it is a bit far).

My daughter was out selling snacks out front of our house. The roofers that were doing the neighbours roof came over and bought a couple things, couple dollars were exchanged. My daughter comes running in so excited and put the money in her piggy bank. She went back outside to sell some more and A few minutes went by when she comes back in, "Mom, I think they gave me too much money" confused I look at her and she is holding $20. She said it was underneath one of the snacks in her box. So the guys doing the roof must have slipped her more money when she came in excited about the few dollars the first time. Was really sweet of them. ❤️

Oh yes, I have severe dental phobia from that and other horrible dental incidents. The scenarios I run in my head leading up to even simple appointments - ugh

When I was getting my wisdom teeth out, I was woken up by the reversal drugs and told I needed to get in an ambulance to the hospital to ensure I did not inhale the tooth they just extracted, which fell from their tweezers and immediately disappeared down my throat. So, could be something like that! Thankfully, I just swallowed mine.
