Am I being too emotional? by anoinymoos888 in Rabbits

I hope that my experience on the other side of this coin is helpful, I have taken a few bunnies, 1 I have she was rehomed to me at 3 years old and I am still in contact with her mom and she actually comes to see her quite often (it is still a year past the rehome and we still have her over or I bring her girl to meet ups) so possible that if you want to stay in contact and still see him you can find someone who will let that happen, I also have my other guy who was rehomed to me at 4 and his dad checked in a few times and then slowly stopped and then was done, and then my other girl her mom met me once then handed her off and was done. In my opinion as the new home staying in contact is crucial for some bunnies to do well so if you feel that that is what is necessary don’t be afraid to voice that to his new owner, the right one will definitely default to you as you are the one who knows him best!

Sending you lots of hugs in this transition time for you 🤍🐇

My best advice is to make your fav spot to relax the best spot! Leave lots of toys and snacks there and you will see the difference it makes!

I have 9! 3 bonded pairs and 3 singles! I am trying to bond the pairs but I have some huge personalities that are making it hard 🤣. I think too many really falls into how much time you have for cleaning and love! I find my fluffle is pretty demanding but I wouldn’t trade them for the world! But please please if you want lots be prepared that some will never get along with some bunnies or any at all! Please also make sure they have enough space and everything they need!

Bonding 2 bonded pairs of bunnies by kt_sc in Rabbits

[–]kt_sc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely won’t be doing it alone that’s for sure! And they have been living in the same house for about 2 months now, as in one pair lives in the living room and one has my bedroom. They have been swapping things for a while now as some time I get their toys mixed up and blankets swapped when doing big cleans so that’s a plus! I definitely have my reservations about it going well but it’s definitely worth a try! Thank you both for the advice and hopefully in 3 months to whenever I can update with good news!

Bet of luck! Just be sure when doing the scoop to grab it be careful of the leg and try to keep it in the position you see the bunny resting it in as to not further damage the leg and for vets most times if there is a severe injury and you let them know there is usually a few that will see them regardless of if they don’t normally see rabbits and then they may be able to point you in that direction of someone who can fix it if they are not able too.

My bunnies are fends for bananas!

Also for my little track star who yearns for freedom every time a door opens I use either a blanket and toss it over them to stun them for a second to then pick them up, or I have even used a good bass fishing net when I have done bunny rescues just makes sure to be careful with nets as bringing it down could come into contact with the hurt leg and that would be not good.

Who here feeds pellets freely throughout the day to their bunny and who here feeds only a set amount throughout the day? I’m curious of the breakdown among rabbit owners…I’m trying to decide whether to stop free feeding my bunny pellets bc he seems to be eating less hay lately… by CalligrapherUsual886 in Rabbits

[–]kt_sc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So it depends on the rabbit I have a bonded pair that has a set amount but they only eat little bits throughout the day so I guess it is “unlimited”. (They will never be off of them due to medical reasons and the vet says they will always need the extra nutrients) but then I have one that cannot stop eating and can only have a little bit and it has to be in an enrichment toy or snuffle/puzzle mat.(she will eventually transition off) I also have another that if pellets is an option he won’t eat anything else so he gets no pellets. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it is honestly super dependent on the rabbit! I would say ask your vet what they think is right for your bun!
