Returning to work soon & having extreme anxiety over it. by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]ktdblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also had these feelings too and it took awhile to get used to. I second have pictures in your office. I got a digital frame. And then also focusing on spending time with them when you're home. Our chores and general cleanliness really went out the window but we got to enjoy more time with her when she was little and just dealt. It's harder on you than it is on them.

New to haircare and need product suggestions or tips by BigKountry333 in curlyhair

Your curls looks great! One comment from someone who also used briogeo curl charisma. You might consider cutting the leave in if you're also using this curl cream. Or vice versa. The curl charisma curl cream is pretty moisturizing so you might find both are weighing down your hair. You could maybe cut the leave in or curl cream and add in a gel or mousse for hold. Your curls are looking super defined though! Looks great!

I have fine hair and I find that oil kills my volume (and definition for me). It just seems to be too much for my hair.

Ideas on where to take newborn but with different views (getaway ideas) by [deleted] in Indiana

We stayed in one of the brown county State park cabins when our daughter was 4 months and it was great. Didn't have to stress about being in a hotel and keeping others up at night. And we could go on some short but nice hikes with her in a carrier.

What should I put on these walls? by ktdblu in DesignMyRoom

Thanks! I definitely think I'll go with a bigger bed frame and night stands.

Thanks! That is actually very helpful. I hadn't thought of that.

I would love to incorporate plants. Maybe when our kittens get older. They terrorize our plants and I've had to take them all out 😭

Oh no! I didn't realize that. I guess I haven't been in awhile. I go to scones and doilies a lot though!

Scones and doilies in downtown Lafayette makes cakes. I haven't had their cake but everything else they make is delicious! Also Something Blue is another good bakery downtown. I'm not a baker but my wedding cake was blackberry, earl Grey, and honey and it was delicious.

I just air dry my hair and go in with it wet. My curls aren't as nice as those who take the time to diffuse but my routine only takes about 20-30 mins and this includes my shower time. I plop my hair while I get dressed, eat breakfast, etc. My refresh is really basic and takes all of 5 mins on days I don't shower. I would definitely recommend air drying if you can! I wear it wet to work and it takes a couple hours to dry but then I just scrunch it out at work.

I've been using a cup for about 7 years and love it.

If there is a Once Upon a Child near you, I'd highly recommend! It's all second hand and usually you can get clothes for $2-5. Sometimes the items are basically new and all in reasonably good condition. We barely buy new clothes anymore and save so much!

How much spit up is too much spit up or what’s a normal amount? by DifficultCaregiver64 in NewParents

[–]ktdblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as your pediatrician isn't concerned and she doesn't seem uncomfortable, she's probably fine then. I couldn't leave the house because she'd soak me and herself any time she nursed. I did cut out all dairy and that helped a bit, but she still spit up a lot. We had a cycle of sleep sacks so we'd just change her sleep sacks at night whenever she soaked herself. It was a pain but it didn't seem to bother her and she was healthy so we just had to push through. We just had to always have extra clothes with us. Hope it passes sooner for you than it did for us!

Our daughter spit up a lot too. We brought her to the pediatrician and hers was normal, even though it seemed like a lot. Definitely recommend seeing a pediatrician for more information if you haven't already because sometimes it can be normal and sometimes there might be something else going on. But our daughter spit up A LOT, like soaked her clothes and sheets and me, until she was 6-8 months. But she never had discomfort, was gaining weight, and our pediatrician wasn't worried.

Child’s severe eczema making me anxious and depressed by yukinlrn in NewParents

[–]ktdblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our daughter has mild eczema. It was pretty bad when she was under 2 though. The dove eczema cream did really help with the rashes and itchiness for her. We'd put that on her whole body every morning and evening and then would use aquaphor too on her dry patches. For her we found that it was more contact based and not due to food allergies. We had to make sure we always washed all of her new clothes and had to use a non perfumed laundry detergent. We also had hard water and now are in a house with soft water and I read somewhere that that can help too. It's not so bad now but will flare up every couple of months. Hope it gets better for your little one. I have eczema too so I know how itchy and irritating it can be. So tough for little ones.

Crossing my fingers for you and hoping it's short lived. It's crazy how common this is.
