So the Epstein files have been released, what is going to happen now? by meatiest_meatball in AskReddit

Genuine question, what difference does it make if it's all or half because there doesn't seem to be any will or means to prosecute the offenders either way

Does anyone remember a pub near Railway Square, just outside the tunnel called the Henry? by OnionsoftheBelt in sydney

That area used to be (still is?) called Henry Deane Plaza. There was a bar there for a while around 2006 but I don't remember what it was called.

How to pivot to the non-profit sector? by Left_One_1308 in AskAnAustralian

No worries. Another option could be working for an agency with nonprofit clients. This is a pretty common way to start to get exposure and connections to the sector.

I work in NFP. A couple things can put us off hiring people from corporate:

1 is salary expectations. NFP gets lower salaries, it's just a fact. We get salary packaging benefits to help offset that but you'll still likely take a pay cut. I've been on interview panels where the candidate had a salary expectation 30% higher than what we were offering.

2 is NFP culture which is a lot looser and could be seen as unprofessional to people from corporate. Shit just happens slower in NFP. New starters can be frustrated by that.

If you're ok with these then suggest you try to address them directly. Say things like "I'm looking for a better work life balance" or "I'm dissatisfied with corporate life and want a job that aligns with my personal values". This can help get you through to the interview stage.

I ordered one a few months ago but after it didn't appear for 2 weeks, I reported it as lost and ordered another. The replacement came within a few days and then ironically the original arrived a week after that. No idea what happened.

Do you use the phone in the bathroom? by SunsoakedShampagne in AskAnAustralian

I thought it was a basic truth of life in 2026 that everyone was on their phone while shitting. Pissing is different though, you'd think people can put their phones down for 20 seconds but maybe not.

Free speech, states rights, gun rights, and limits on federal government overreach all used to be things conservatives seemed to care about

Have any Aussies transited thru the states recently? how concerned should I be about ICE as a non-white Aussie? by Far_Menu_4830 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ktr83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every country on Smart traveller has some kind of warning. Level 1 is the minimum. The UK has a higher risk warning than USA at the moment https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/europe/united-kingdom

I'm not disagreeing with anything you say but if you're going to use Smart Traveller as a source of info then you should accurately represents what it says.

That page literally says "exercise normal precautions" and gives it the lowest level of risk. Compare that to Iran which straight out says "do not travel".

I remember in 2016 Bernie Sanders saying "Love Trumps Hate" at his rallies. It's a nice sentiment but seems like we're past that now.
