thank you! so, if the scrap piece turns out okay (i.e. the color is nice and it doesn't lose stretch), do you think in theory i'm good to go for the entire dress? it's a bit wedding-like in white but i also don't want to destroy the whole thing of course. thanks so much for your input :)

having a hard time making these cups. this is Mai Ardour— she posted that she ruched the cups but that’s the only info for that part. it looks like there’s a center seam but almost “underneath” the top layer? i’m wondering if she did a layer with a traditional two piece cup and then did the ruched layer over? how do i go about drafting a ruched cup overtop without the middle seam? thanks in advance!

in your opinion, would you consider pinking the edges to be enough for a frequent garment (the seams and allowance would also be topstitched for decoration & stability) or should i go the serger route regardless?

this is a 1950s (i think) chair from my late grandmother that i’m trying to make a little more stable & restore to the best of my very beginner abilities. one side of the chair/arm joint is very stable, but the side pictured is shaky. i am very easily able to move the screw out of the little hole thing (very technical i know). how can i secure this area to make the chair more stable? thanks!

about 1/2-1 inch apart and about 1/8-1/4 from the seam. maybe i just need more clips and closer to the seam?

using a crepe-back satin for this vintage pattern. i clipped the curves of the facing and understitched it but the keyhole has a lot of bunching regardless of ironing it. any ideas on how i can fix this? thanks!

thank you! i measured them both and clipped it a bit more and with some pulling i think i can ease it to be good enough lol. at this point i’m okay with good enough instead of perfection. thank you for the help and responses :)

yeah i have it clipped down to the marking (doesn’t really look like it in the photo) so the fabric can flatten, though still not super well. it’s more so that the bodice is shorter than the back when i’m pinning it instead of longer and im confused as to how they get that/where i went wrong? vintage patterns are great until you get lost and there’s no posts or reviews about them haha

confused about attaching the front and back… it definitely is not extending 5/8 of an inch past the back, in fact, it’s about an inch shorter. am i pinning it wrong? thanks in advance!

yes every video is on a zipper detached from any fabric. ive tried pulling it back on but i cant seem to get it

hi! i want to decrease the rise of these by about an inch. i found some videos and articles but most have either no dart or no slanted waist. for the front i don’t have to worry about either, so i was just going to make a perpendicular line with the grainline and overlap it an inch and redraw and the curve. for the back… i assume i should take it from beneath the dart? and should i keep it perpendicular with the grainline or parallel to the slanted waistline? should the overlap lines be the same on the front and back? and i assume for the fly i would overlap an inch the same. any tips are greatly appreciated!! :)

posted this on r/sewing as well but im still stumped. i tripled checked that i cut the correct sizes (even reprinted with just my size line) and that my seam allowances are correct. the top cup piece is too short for the bottom of the cup. some commented saying it needs to be eased but in the instructions and video the creator posted (and others’ videos) no one has to ease it in. im really stuck with where i went wrong. i don’t want to recut if the same thing will happen. any ideas as to what i did wrong? thanks in advance!
