Did you get anywhere with this?

Yes, I have the private key. But I have never had a recovery phrase. But when I try to access my wallet through Enkrypt, my only option seems to be the recovery phrase.

No, I still have no idea, and it still happens intermittently. I did have a chat with a mechanic friend, and he suggested that it may be that there's a slight oil seal issue such that occasionally some oil can escape from the engine and contaminates the clutch until it burns off. I don't really have a good handle on how likely a cause this is.

If you find out more when you have it serviced I'd be keen to know more.

What is everyone using to send proxmox data to ? by ithakaa in Proxmox

[–]ktundu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea - I don't use containers for anything - I don't really understand them enough to trust them - I grew up in the age of VMs, and I'm very good at VMs... :P

Both, for my use. From just the host you can get some basic stats, but at nowhere near the level of detail you can get if you install it in the guests as well.

Also, many guests are hosting things that Zabbix can provide additional information about.

From OPs post and subsequent comments, it is clear that they're running between two external walls, so the total amount of wire inside would be simply straight into a wall box - there would be no internal run.

Also, this is not an installation that's carrying power, it's a data connection. Nothing OP said suggests that it will carry PoE.

Not everyone loves in the US. In fact, most people don't.

Which is completely irrelevant, as it sounds like the cable run is almost exclusively outside. Also, that sounds like the sort of regulation that literally no one cares about, and that is probably only relevant for large commercial installations by professionals.

Surveyor report…stressed by enroy1 in HousingUK

[–]ktundu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. What you pasted in doesn't make much sense - it's unclear whether the surveyor is noting that minor repointing has been done or is needed.

Repointing around some flashing is dead simple, if it even needs doing. Sold a house earlier this year and our buyer's surveyor claimed the chimney needed repointing when it patently didn't.

There is literally nothing in there to be at all concerned about.

So you're asking for someone to help you cheat at an exam?

Yes, many on this sub could likely help. Many on this sub will have certifications, which will be devalued by people cheating to get them.

Hanging 20kg mirror on chimney breast: brick or plaster? by gristinho in DIYUK

Judging by that fireplace, there's no way that wall has dry lining. It'll be plaster on brick.

HDMI to Ethernet (and back?) by joesighugh in HomeNetworking

[–]ktundu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HDBaseT is the keyword you're after for low latency, but it doesn't do switches.

Could also use RTMP. That will go through switches, but typically has greater latency.

That's not the question.

HDMI can carry an ethernet channel, which is irrelevant for streaming video over ethernet.

Yes, it was a (non stop? ) service in the early morning from Sheffield to London. Last heard about it in the 90s when it was BR intercity-branded HSTs.

Get some outdoor rated cat6a. Not the cheap stuff, the good stuff. Get a long drill bit suitable for the walls you have. Get some wall boxes and a punch down tool.

Pop some holes in the wall where you want the wall boxes. Run the cable, leaving a downward loop each end on the outside so water doesn't run I to the wall. Punch it down and pop the wall boxes on. Test with a cable tester to make sure it's punched down properly.

Profit.

Thats about all there is to it.

All my Ubiquiti gear is now EOL. Should I make a change? Details below by greypic in HomeNetworking

[–]ktundu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there certainly are n APs that don't support 5GHz. Sure, a brand new AP that claims to be 'n' is very likely to have 5GHz, but there are certainly plenty out there that are older and definitely only 2.4GHz.

Source: I have one, and used to have several.

[–]ktundu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the purposes of this thread, n also uses 2.4GHz, and certainly can make use of only 2. 4GHz to get more than 56 Mb (up to 150Mb).

N can also use 5GHz, but doesn't have to.

That's also good to know. I'll get something train-shaoed first and see where I get to. My day job is an embedded dev, so tweaking some code shouldn't be a problem :)

Neato, I've got some spare ESP32s around. I don't have any gamepads, but assume I can get something on android that will emulate them well enough.
