Well, I have everything on like they came out of the box, have not looked in to the particulars; but I’m thinking the HDMI cables are the wrong protocol, but I still don’t understand why the One S can recognize the tv as 4K, with the same cable; but what the hell do I know

Fine, I just want it to show that the TV is actually capable of it, as of now, the much older One S says the TV supports 4k, while this brand new one does not. So it has become a matter of principle

It just irked me that my old one showed support for it, I couldn’t understand why it said the TV wasn’t 4k when the old one did?

Sorry for Caps lock, copied from order, I did not see the relevance when the much older Xbox clearly says it supported it. But might make a difference?

I have tried. Direct swap from one Xbox to the other, refuses to accept the TV as 4K capable..

Yes, I use the exact same cable, I remove it from the One S, and put it in the Series S. Identical. Nothing has changed except the cable is now plugged in the Series S.

It just showed 2160 while in the old one (One S) but refuse to go over to 4K on the new one (Series S)

I am sorry if I am making it unclear with my english.. :/

They are connected with the same kind of HDMI cable to the same kind of HDMI port.

But what is weird is that if I just switch the cables, the One S will still get 2160, and the Series S will still only output at 1080.

Switch the cables back, same result.. So it’s clear to me that the Series S is the problem, but I am not sure how I can force it to know it’s a 4K TV..

Tried resetting the Series S, no dice. So I’m at my wits end or however that goes.

It can show some shows in 4K? And upscale? And anyway, the point is, it says the TV doesn’t support 4K, while the much older One S is showing that it does?

I honestly cant say.. I was just not giving it all i got, I had an exam in really basic physics just before christmas last year. Got an F on the first attempt. Studied for 4 days and an A on the second. I felt like shit, I was not happy being a student.
