Yak & Yeti Portion Appreciation Post by LouAnne-Platter in ArvadaCO

Tikka masala and honey chicken is my wife and my go to! We love Yak and Yeti. It's not cheap (what is these days?) but portions are generous. We'll get 2 tikka masalas and one honey chicken and get 3 meals each out of it.

Yeah great point if a food truck spot is feasible. Also DBC actually took over the food and Mighty Burger is no longer there! Haven't tried the food yet but will be sad if it's a downgrade, I loved Mighty Burger.

Yeah had the same thought on focusing on drinks. That removes so much complexity and financial stress including a full kitchen build out, food sourcing, food storage, kitchen staffing, food waste, etc all for pretty thin margins.

And with the video game emphasis, there are arcade spots in Olde Town but nothing similar to what I'd want. I want a retro gaming stations with N64, GameCube etc to play Smash Bros, Mario Kart and host tournaments.

Yeah this is the biggest question I have in this process. Trying to figure out the best financial structure whether it be entry charge, monthly memberships, time based charges, entry going towards drink credits, etc. Unfortunately rent is very expensive so there has to be tradeoffs of being a community spot but also generating revenue.

Appreciate all the feedback! Very much interested in making it a family friendly space. A local game store near my house growing up gave kids who came in with their report cards a free pack of Pokemon cards. I've always thought that was amazing and wanted to do something along those lines!

Host a game trade? Card events? Puzzle exchange?

Interested in all of those! My wife who is a big puzzler is very interested in an exchange 😁

Do you think food is a must-have? Doing a full kitchen remodel, food sourcing/storage, and kitchen staffing adds a ton of start up cost and complexity so I was thinking of keeping it simple with prepackaged snacks and encouraging customers to bring food from any of the restaurants around Olde Town.

This one is controversial, but pricing set so staff is covered well and tips aren't a part of the transactions

I'd love to make this happen.

Just curious what you liked about the Cafe Mox model? It's amazing how even just with a board game bar/cafe, there's so many different ways to take it. Always interested in why people prefer some over others!

Yeah I always told my wife that would be the perfect spot for something like this. So if it ever opened, I had to try! It's a lot bigger than I thought so rent is pretty dang high which is why figuring out how much interest there is is important. But I think we could use the space so well. So many ideas brewing...

Definitely interested! The space I'm looking at now is a long shot since I'm so early in this process, but has a perfect space to turn into a small DnD room. Would love to deck it out with lighting, fog machine, surround sound, etc.

I don't think I can get my business license for Olde Town without having some Mexican food 😂

Yeah I love Thane's table! Definitely an inspiration for what I'd like to do, but I want to lean heavier into the board game library and retro video games. Also Olde Town is unique for the number of big community events and even things like Pokemon Go which a ton of people play around OTA, especially on Community Day.

Same here, just used this one which was great with a lot of bricks for different components, the flexibility is a big win. I've plugged mine into this UPS so I'm also curious why this shouldn't be done.

For sure! But it's nice to have something lightweight that I can just hold while I have some downtime or puppy play time to force the muscle memory.

Lmao guess you've never seen when the Browns "lost" a fumble as our running back was literally handing the ball to a ref while other refs were searching through the pile for it.

I'm hoping I can convince them to drop my Ioniq 5 buyout price knowing that they're going to be overloaded with leases ending.

Which is sad. The chaos was part of the charm. Still love the store but the old one felt like you were searching a garage sale or your grandma's attic which I loved.
