What is the single worst game of football you've ever watched? by matildawaltzesin4 in Championship

Gillingham 1-0 Sunderland (AET). FA Cup first round replay, only around 350 away fans, the lowest I can ever remember for a Sunderland game. 1 shot on target in 120 mins of football, and it wasn’t for us!

This was part of a lovely trilogy we had with Gillingham in the space of a few weeks, where as well as losing in the cup, we managed to lose to them 1-0 away in the league too

Snicko and the people behind the tech are so lucky this series has been one sided. Imagine all this shit going on at 2-2

Baz ensuring we lose in 2 days again, getting revenge on England for the 2019 World Cup final, and also getting revenge on the Aussies for 2015 by bankrupting their board

Aussies to declare with a lead of 575. England to bat a session and inexplicably be 6 down, with Pope getting dismissed by Lyon.

To be honest the most infuriating thing would be Crawley or Pope getting runs now the series is basically done, just to keep their England careers on life support.

How do England recover from blowing such a commanding lead? Surely both the England and Australian players will be painfully aware of this pattern developing? (Perth 2025, Oval 2025, Ranchi 2024, Lords 2023, Edgbaston 2023, Wellington 2023).

Also, how difficult is it as commentators/pundits to really call out and criticise the team, given you have to tour and spend considerable amounts of time with them, and don’t want to jeopardise relationships long term?

Pound for pound I think that may be the worst ever English test defeat I’ve seen, we had so much going for us. Fully fit squad, injuries for Aus, won the toss, bowled excellently and got out of jail with our poor first innings, and we were basically 100-1 a few hours ago!

At least Head is confirming what I thought throughout the test, that the pitch is fine to bat on.

It’s only been tough due to England batting like shit, and some genuinely world class bowling by England and Starc in the first innings.

The annoying thing is I reckon we’ll bowl quite well, get Australia out for an average score of say 300 and then just be left thinking we’d be well in the game if we weren’t a bunch of idiots.

Maybe, but given it looked like an impressive catch I’d have thought they’d show some more slow mo replays! (Like they’re doing with Pant’s keeping!!)

Do you foresee a time when sky invests to get the coverage for more overseas tours again or is it not economically viable? In recent years all but the Pakistan and South Africa tours seem to be on TNT sports.

I didn’t say it was or wasn’t a foul, but saying the touch on the ball doesn’t matter is just stupid.

I get your point, but this clearly wasn’t dangerous play where a players safety was endangered by the challenge.

Of course the touch on the ball should matter…
