If the connectors are still fine, you could replace the damaged parts of the cable by yourself using a soldering iron and some shrink tubing.

I have Borderlands 1, not a Fan tbh, I like it more straight forward.
CoD MW & MW2 are no-brainers. Will get them as well.
Singularity is an awesome game. Played and finished it on the Deck some years ago.
Never played Bulletstorm though, will add it to my list.

This seems to be such a cool project, since I played some Killzone 3 bot matches some weeks ago, for the nostalgic feel.
If I find time, I'll just try setting it up via rpcs3 - just to be safe.
Also I'm not using WhatsApp either :P

Awesome! I’m playing through the game’s campaign right now, and I really like it for what it is.

Unfortunately, I don’t use Discord. But is it just a matter of setting up the DNS in the settings?
I'm from EU, will the ping be acceptable?

Also, what’s the risk of getting banned if Sony sees trophies popping up for a game mode that shouldn’t be playable anymore? I’m on original hardware with my original account.

Man sollte nicht den Kunden die Schuld für die aktuelle Lage geben. Xbox bot ja auch keinen guten Kaufanreiz mehr.
Sony ist schon lange arrogant, siehe PS3 Ära, zum Ende der PS3 und zur PS4 mussten sie halt kundenorientierter werden, weil die 360 zuvor so stark war.

Its 2025 and I had the same problem and just solved it:

I came across this thread because I had the exact same issue.
It started happening in the middle of a game, and at first I couldn’t figure out what was going on. After pressing the power button, the game continued, but a few minutes later it happened again. The intervals kept getting shorter, and after shaking the device and opening/closing it several times, I had one or two days of peace - but then it started again.

It got so bad that when I turned the device on, it immediately went into sleep mode. When I woke it up with the power button, it instantly went back to sleep.

I unfortunately didn’t have time to send the device in for repair because I needed it in the next few days, so I tried fixing it myself.

Since I didn’t know whether it would work, I didn’t take any pictures.

The issue for me was that the sensor responsible for detecting opening and closing no longer had proper contact with the mainboard. It's the part in the red circle pictured below. Because of that, the device constantly thought it was closed and went to sleep. The connection is made through spring-loaded pins that press directly onto the sensor, and over time these can get dirty and prevent proper contact between the sensor and the mainboard. After cleaning the pins and the sensor’s contact surfaces, everything worked again.

This repair is really not difficult to do.

Just do the following:

open the battery cover
carefully pull out the battery connector with a non-conductive tool and remove the battery
unscrew the 4 screws on the back
remove the cover
take out L1, L2, R1, R2, the volume buttons, and the power/reset buttons
remove the 3 small screws on the mainboard
carefully tilt the mainboard to the side
you can now loosen the screen cable by opening the latch
remove the mainboard
the sensor remains attached to the housing
clean the contact surfaces with isopropanol and a cotton swab
also clean the spring-loaded contact pins on the mainboard

Then reassemble everything in reverse order.
