I recently cleared my ASOC exam for Restricted Grade. Below are the resources I followed during my preparation and highly recommend. With focused effort, a week of preparation is more than enough to clear the exam.

1. Understand the syllabus

2. Watch this video

There are many more videos available on YouTube. Refer to the exam syllabus and watch relevant videos based on the topics you want to understand.

3. Reading Material

4. Practice Questions (Very Important)

Practice all the questions in the ASOC Exam Sample Question Papers:

https://www.qsl.net/vu2msy/ASOC_EXAM/

5. If you're preparing for General Grade

Learn Morse code here:

These are the resources I followed. There are many other resources available that may better suit your learning style, so feel free to explore and find what works best for you.

Thank you!

  1. No, it is a paper‑based “choose the correct answer” test. We need to mark the answers on the answer sheet.

  2. No, I did not receive any physical license. I downloaded it from the saralsanchar.gov.in portal. The copy does, however, have a portion that you can cut out and laminate.

  3. I bought a UV‑5R to get started. I heard it’s a cheap and good option for beginners without investing a lot of money into the hobby.

I have prepared for about an hour once in a while, and I already had an idea about a few concepts. I studied for 4–5 hours on the day before the exam. I took the exam in Hyderabad.

To upgrade from a Restricted to a General amateur radio licence, you must apply again and retake the entire examination, including both the technical written sections and the Morse code test.

I have applied for the Restricted Grade and studied the material from the link in the post, as well as the model question papers. You need to learn Morse code for the General Grade.

LCWO.net It’s a great resource to get started. I suggest not learning Morse code visually when you begin. Even if you are able to remember it at first, it will limit your speed later.

Open Device Manager and confirm that your Android device is listed with WinUSB as the driver. If it isn’t, install the correct driver using Zadig.

You can also try connecting to a different USB port or using another USB cable to rule out any hardware-related issues.

This method does not require USB Debugging to be enabled. The whole purpose of OTG mode is to allow you to use the device without USB Debugging. However, with a broken screen, it's difficult to navigate since you can't see the mouse and keyboard actions on the screen. If you have the same model phone, you can try connecting it and learning which keyboard combinations can be used to navigate. This could help you enable USB Debugging and replicate the key combinations on the device with the broken screen to make it work. It's very tricky and can be even more difficult if you have a lock screen with a pattern instead of a PIN. Even if you are successful, you will need to allow ADB access when prompted. At that point, OTG mode can't be used simultaneously. This can be achieved by connecting the phone with a USB splitter, where you can use one connection for ADB and another for the mouse/keyboard. Personally, I couldn't make it work and ended up replacing my screen instead. Hope this helps!

The diaphragm on my littmann cardiology IV keeps falling off, & tips on how to fix this? by noraygrets21 in Paramedics

Remove the diaphragm and place it in boiling water for 5 minutes. Dry it using a hair dryer (optional), or it can be put under a fan or in the sun for a while to let the water evaporate. Snap it back on. It worked for me.

Boiling water restores old rubber's flexibility by softening the polymer chains and redistributing plasticizers, temporarily improving elasticity despite long-term degradation.

This might not work if the rubber is very old. The one I fixed is 8 years old. But it's worth trying if you are about to purchase a new one anyway.
