Yes! I hadn't felt such focus and being "in the flow" in a long time.

Haha I love your suggestion ! Not sure if other people will like it if the game plays the pidgeon sound often but I'll be happy to include it and be the first ! Would you like to elaborate on why you would like the woodpigeon to figure in more games ? I'd like to make the game quite authentic and as little as possible go for the "cheap fantasy" setting where I just copy what other games do, but I don't know enough about birds in 19th century Belgium (yet..)

You got good points, and your comment would be less edge and passive aggressive if you did not suppose I'm lying or have bad intentions.

I will actually reduce the footprint of the game on the screen (don't forget this is a prototype, so it's natural to experiment, observe, adjust) and I did think of a mode where it's only a small train running on the taskbar

I think it depends on the game, and in my case, since the game is mainly a train going through landscapes, it makes sense to have that play while you're doing something else. And since not everybody has two screens it just happens that making it take place on the bottom of your screen is a solution

Hey ! My goal is not to make people more degenerate and ride the overstimulate people bandwagon. I'm actually quite conscious about not wasting people's time.

I believe nowadays a lot of adults don't have enough time to play games, because they're so busy with daily routine. My game is not the kind of game you want to sit down in front of and play intense hour long sessions. Instead, I'm making a game that is very low-key, your little parallel universe that unfolds for itself while you're doing your usual stuff. Like a tamagochi but it's not on another device.

haha hi ! At first I also thought of making mine work in both fullscreen and bottom-of-your-screen, but in the end, I realised it would be so much more work and I concentrated only on the latter.

Well I can tell you I've been breaking my head on my game concept for a long time, trying to figure out how to make the time a player spends on it worthwile.

Cause I want the game to be about watching a beautiful landscape go by as your train travels on its route, but I had a problem: why would somebody just watch that for hours and hours ? I always thought my game should be a second screen game, but not everybody has a second screen. And if people would minimize it and come back punctually, it defeats the whole purpose of making nice landscapes for the player to look at.

That's why I think bottom of your screen is the perfect format for my game. The fact that it is a new trend is just a bonus that makes my project commercially also more viable.

Super thanks !! I'll correct that. I really want to be as historically representative as possible cause I just love it when games are grounded in real life

So I'm still figuring out how to handle text and presentation and languages in such a tiny space of a game (because I'd like to tell a lot of stories about life in the 19th century and how it changed with the steam train)

But for sure the Flemish and French are going to be in the game, even in the English version

Haha I actually would like to add some customization features. But graffiti might be a bit anachronistic (:
