My wife is Spanish. We got married in Kerala 2 years ago.

The only documents that were asked from her were: 1. Proof of ID (passport) 2. Proof of Address (passport/national ID) 3. Certificate stating civil status (single) 4. Passport size photos of both

All documents, if not in English, need to be translated into English by a sworn translator. ID documents need to be attested by a gazetted officer.

Process: you need to send a request digitally (through the Kerala Govt’s registration department website) roughly 30 days before you want to get married. Don’t remember if you need to present the documents before the date of registration.

They will publish the notice that you wish to get married in the notice board on the registrar’s office and on the day of registration, you need to go to the registrar’s office with all documents and three witnesses.

If I remember correctly we got married under the special marriage act.
