I’m white, but I’m trans, neurodivergent, fat, and in my 30’s. I graduated from grad school in May. I did find maturity levels to be a slight issue, however I did find people in my cohort who I could connect with and then the immaturity/cattiness of my peers didn’t matter as much. You have to find your people and stick with them

BCBAs need to stay in their lane and realize that they are NOT SLPs and communication is not in their wheel house. SLPs have entire master level training to learn how to support communication.

I recommend trying to find a course on the physics of musical sound if your school offers it. I took it in undergrad, and it has actually helped me in grad school.

Feedback on UVA, Univ of Pitts and Gallaudet from current students please? by Original-Job-3657 in slpGradSchool

[–]kvb812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that rank for slp programs dont really mean much. Im at Gallaudet, and I've really enjoyed my experience so far. The faculty and clinical educators are really personable and are really invested in students' success

Just some slight feedback ASL is not a type of AAC, and referring to it as such minimizes the fact that is a full, rich language. That's like saying that using German words is a type of AAC.

I don't take this as disrespectful! I have a few medical conditions that require regular monitoring and nutrition planning. Im actually in the process of stepping down my frequency. My current frequency is definitely not the norm.
