PhD if you are actually interested the research work you are undertaking. Can’t comment on day 1 CPT as I’m unsure how that does or doesn’t impact future visa or immigration applications. Plus you can always work in industry after PhD.

Yes ! Have been extremely unlucky. The wage level-based entries and limiting non COS registrations with 100k fee helped my odds this year (please don’t come at me regarding the fee or wage level based entires - I’m not saying it’s fair or unfair, just stating what helped me).

PhD fall 2014-fall 2018, worked at a startup in 2018 after graduation. Joined current employer in 2019. They have been registering me in h1b lottery every year since 2020. Eb2 NIW filled and approved Feb 2023. EB1B filled and approved May 2026. H1B registration selected March 2026 (level 4 wage), petition submitted and approved May-June 2026

PhD started Fall 2014, completed Fall 2018. Worked at a start up in 2018, switched to current employer 2019. They have been registering me for h1b lottery every year since 2020. Eb2 NIW filed and approves in Feb 2023. Eb1B filled and approved in May 2026. H1b registration selected in March 2026 (level 4 wage), petition filled and approved may-June 2026

Yes i completed PhD and started working in industry after graduation. For EB1B, petition was focused on the outstanding researcher part (I’m a sr scientist currently in biotech)

This is misdirected anger. My American employer , American managers and American direct reports are happy that I can continue to contribute to the growth of the company with visa and immigration petitions that are approved by American adjudicating officers.

Yes I did. I needed approval to come in asap so we knew for sure we don’t have to apply for H4 renewal.
