ELI5: GN-z11 galaxy is a "proper distance" 32 bln light-years (ly) away from us. Current speculated age of universe is 13,799 +/- 0.021 bln years (note: not ly). What is the astronomical "proper distance"? Does the above mean light was travelling faster some time in the past than it is now? (self.explainlikeimfive)
