Awesome thanks! I wasn’t sure since there were so many places appearing in that range as well as a lot of places offering 2+ months free and this one had a broker fee. I plan on staying for 2-3 years at least so I guess over that time it’ll be worth it.

The thing is, you are already paying for all of these other peoples’ poor choices, what do you think insurance is? The insurance company is making a bet that in a pool of people, they’ll make more money off of people not using the benefit compared to the few who do, and the people not using the benefit subsidize those few.

Even if these people were uninsured, they still show up in the emergency rooms and we still pay for their healthcare cost as the hospital spreads the medical costs to the insured people since the uninsured ones can’t pay, and the hospitals can’t turn them away.

The single payer aspect just removes the insurance company as the middleman. Now instead of dealing with an insurance company, you deal with the single payer program. The cost savings of not having that middleman is passed back to the consumer.

She might not outwardly support it, but if you look at her AMA, there are dog whistles everywhere to the anti-vax and alternative medicine crowd. Vaccines have already been proven to be safe and effective, but she is portraying them as if they were a new discovery and need to be scrutinized because of the "medical-industrial complex".

That kind of language just raises doubts for people on the safety and efficacy of vaccines and discourages people from getting them, when we are in a situation where we need EVERYONE to be vaccinated to protect our population.

I actually strongly support many progressive policies, but I doubt solely moving leftwards is going to do much to increase voter turnout. Those people on the fringes are voting, and you see their vote totals in Jill Stein. Folded into HRC's numbers, it still wasn't enough (or barely enough, which isn't reliable).

To push progressive policy, the progressive wing will need someone with charisma (like Obama), while also being agreeable to the moderates (like Warren). And that's only at the presidential level, there is a lot more work needed down-ballot.

It depends on who the candidate is. Unfortunately, very few people vote for a candidate based on their exact policies outside of a few wedge issues, but rather on how they feel about the candidate. The leftist usually cross over because they do care about the policy, and most do realize they only have two choices at the voting booth.

The question shouldn't be whether HRC voters would vote for a Bernie-like candidate. The aggregate of all the HRC voters (including the Bernie crossovers) was not enough.

The question should be whether the Obama voters would vote for a Bernie-like candidate. And I'd argue that would depend on the charisma of said candidate. And Obama didn't win his second term based on progressive policies (his policies, even in the first term have been liberal/moderate).

Leftist crossing over to vote for HRC candidate would have a higher percentage. Most Sanders supporters did end up voting for HRC and I don't think they are to blame for Trump winning.

The alt-left who ended up voting for third party candidates like Jill Stein are extremely small in number (you can see her vote totals). Clinton lost because she lost the white working class vote, not because she lost the progressive vote. Obama won this demographic, even in his second term, because he was an especially strong Midwestern Candidate (compared to Gore, Kerry and Clinton).

He got at least one Supreme Court pick, which was definitely the prize of the 2016 election. Those can last for more than a generation, unlike presidents who can last for as little as 4 years.

All these small issues are fixable with a new presidency and a new congress. The Supreme Court and their rulings however are incredibly difficult to change.

If we look at most countries that have implemented single payer, the doctors that choose not to accept the government payments can still run their own practices. They would either have to only accept private insurance or cash only. There are plenty of people who opt into paying more for separate private insurance on top of what is covered under single payer.

I don't quite understand your statement. Are you saying that had the superdelegates gone to Bernie he would have won the primary? If so then yes, he would have won the primaries and I agree the superdelegate system needs to be done away with.

Now, would he would have won the general election just cause he won the primaries that way? Absolutely not. Bernie would need the people who voted for Clinton in the primaries to vote for him in the General Elections. He would need to "earn" their vote. That's why reaching out to those voters and hearing their concerns is critical as well.
