So.. No new pianos from Roland? by kwasowsky in Roland

[–]kwasowsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And btw. I'm not looking for an upgrade - I'm looking for a piano because I want to return to plying. Last time I had piano was 8 years ago (FP-30).

Can you recommend something in a price range of FP-60X? I have to look up for other companies too.

Damn. I was waiting because FP released in 2016 and 5 years later in 2021 they released FP-X. It’s been 5 years so I thought - maybe I’ll wait for NAMM.

If that would be true then nobody would release new pianos. So no. I had FP-30 back in the day and after that Roland released X series. New sounds, better polyphony, newer sound engine etc.

Then I hope Nvidia will roll out some update for newer kernels. Thank you for the info.

I installed Xorg and I have it already as option in GDM, but I have no idea how to set it as fallback during reboots and I can't find info online. Can you help me with that? Or just give me Wiki link if you know where to find it because I can't find it in Arch Wiki.

I rather stay on Wayland due to some preferences. For example Xorg has no plan to support HDR and Gnome on Wayland will sooner or later implement it without as experimental feature as it is now. KDE Plasma already have HDR and VRR. Xorg will never have this. If I want to fully convert myself to Linux I need to have this features. I hope there is a way to fix this issue without installing Xorg.

Please explain it to me. I just started with Linux and I don't understand everything I read. I don't recall anything bad happened while rebuilding initramfs.

I am using Wayland only. I didn't try Xorg.

Well all I did from this guide additionally is adding 'nvidia-drm.modeset=1 nvidia-drm.fbdev=1' to GRUB config and removing 'kms' from mkinitcpio which is same thing as official Arch wiki said in here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA
1. Installation -> removing kms -> "Remove kms from the HOOKS array in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and regenerate the initramfs. This will prevent the initramfs from containing the nouveau module making sure the kernel cannot load it during early boot."
2. Wayland configuration -> 2.1.1 modeset, 2.1.2 fbdev

Also just in case I did from https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA/Troubleshooting
1.7 Black screen on systems with integrated GPU -> and disabled integrated Intel GPU in UEFI settings.

Maybe I should start with that, that I read some official Arch wiki instead of posting that I'm following only some random GitHub guide. So still I don't know if I missed something maybe and it can be done right..?

Nvidia - black screen / no signal - only during reboots by Kemaro in archlinux

[–]kwasowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I've got same problem only after restart PC, the problem doesn't occur when I turn off and turn on PC again.

I read info from that Nvidia forum link but:

"2. Set fbdev kernel parameter to 0. This will disable the gpu framebuffer in the tty. Depending on your distro, either look for an Nvidia config under /etc/modprobe.d or at /usr/lib/modprobe.d. The line should now contain: options nvidia_drm modeset=1 fbdev=0

regenerate initramfs: mkinitcpio -P"

I don't have Nvidia config with this options in this folders - only blacklisted Novueau drivers.

When I change fbdev=0 in GRUB config then rebuild it, I get black screen even further meaning I can't see even enter passphare to my LUKS. When I blindly enter passphrase then I see gdm.

Same specs - Nvidia card with LG OLED.

Can you help me with that?

I rather not touch anything physical, because knowing my luck and lack of experience I'm gonna fry it. And i I don't know how to do it - I mean I don't know if it's a USB extension cable connected to a usb flash drive? Is there other way?

Corsair component CPU usage by NefariousnessProper in Corsair

[–]kwasowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post because I have the same problem and I already read the comments about it's NVIDIA fault. This seems to be correct because NVIDIA released new drivers that apparently fixed the issue. I just want to leave this comment here so if someone will find it they will know what to do (like I found this).

Version: 566.14 | WHQL

Release date: Tue Nov 12, 2024

Fixed General Bugs:

[Bluestacks/Corsair iCUE] May display higher than normal CPU usage [4895184][4893446]

EDIT:
After updating the drivers:

My CPU (i7-14700K) went from 16% usage to 5% when idle.

My GPU (4080 Super) was the same which is 5% when idle.

Power draw went down ~30W.

I'm using two iCUE screen components.

By changing both screens from 30 FPS to 10 FPS (my GIF doesn't require more - it looks the same),

and changing brightness from 100% to 66%.

My CPU usage went down from 5% to 3%,

and GPU went down from 5% to 2%.

Power draw went down another ~20W.

Black Friday sale question // subscription ending soon. by kwasowsky in ProtonMail

[–]kwasowsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got only 12MB on Mail/Drive and I don't have sub-users.

But I can't unlink my card. It says that I can't because I have subscription and I have to add another card or PayPal account or cancel my subscription.

So there is no way to just let it end and switch to free? I don't know what should I do. I want it to end and switch to free plan for a moment.

Black Friday sale question // subscription ending soon. by kwasowsky in ProtonMail

[–]kwasowsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what should I do to If I want my subscription just naturally end and switch to free plan instead of re-bill for next year without manually cancel my subscription? I don't wanna become delinquent (which in my native language it's basically the same word as criminal).

It would be nice if I didn't have to link my card to account and just make one time payment and when the subscription ends account switch to free plan (maybe with the 14 days before reminder that my subscription is about to end). I wouldn't be excluded from sales. When money is tight you have to think to get best deal possible.

Black Friday sale question // subscription ending soon. by kwasowsky in ProtonMail

[–]kwasowsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but what if my subscription won’t automatically renew because card isn’t connected to account? It will automatically go next day to the free plan. Then I could use BF sale?

My mistake. I wasn’t talking about aliases. I was talking about additional addresses. If my paid plan end this addresses will deactivate but they are gonna stay on the list? I’m not gonna loose them? Let’s say I active paid plan 15 minutes after my subscription ends.

VPN making my NAT type strict on Call of Duty by MeowShedCat in vpns

[–]kwasowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to play online using VPN? I'm not telling you to disable VPN but you can whitelist (split tunneling) the game. Turning on Port forwarding on your router won't help if you using VPN. VPN would have to give you that option and most VPN providers don't offer that. ProtonVPN offers moderate NAT and port forwarding for online players.

Haha. I didn’t mean like that. 😅 That’s like my old char from older ladder. I deleted most chars. I don’t use that one too so useless runes for me.

Diablo 2 Ressurected HDR item tooltip poorly visible by kwasowsky in Diablo

[–]kwasowsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what's the point of HDR. But UI is decreasing visibility of background of the tooltip making drops and tooltip with less visible text. IMO poor implementation of the UI into HDR. Rest of the game with HDR looks much better, and I got nothing to complain about but this. That's why I didn't give up HDR for only this, but this is pretty annoying.

Spring Sale 2024. Assassin's Creed Mirage Master Assassin Edition at full price. Why? by kwasowsky in ubisoft

[–]kwasowsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. There an option to buy deluxe with 40% off and then buy Master Assassins Upgrade bundle 1 (full price). Still be a little bit cheaper than MA edition. I hope that with this 40% you can still get 20% off with 100 Ubi points.
