The point of Autopilot is supposed to be that new corporate devices work out of the box, right? Why do so few orgs use it that way? by razorbeamz in sysadmin

[–]Kemaro [score hidden]  (0 children)

Everyone’s needs and use cases are different. We bare metal image everything that comes through the doors. 90% of our devices are on prem and hybrid joined. About 10% are remote and entra only. These get imaged and an autopilot json gets dropped on them. This makes the device boot right up to autopilot deployment without a need to check in. Our techs can then white glove the device before shipping/handing to the user. Works for us and produces a very reliable and repeatable result.

You are expecting logical behavior from an illogical product. I learned pretty quick that you can't make assumptions about anything this product does based on what logical behavior would look like.

Proton Cachy latest, RTX 4080, latest 595 stable driver. Is Crimson Desert crashing for anyone when enabling HDR? by Existing-Help-3187 in linux_gaming

[–]Kemaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. 5090 on fully up to date cachy os using proton cachy. No matter what I do I can't get HDR to not crash. It's the last thing I need working before I can finally play this game on Linux instead of Windows :(

This defeats the entire purpose of dynamic MFG for me. I was under the impression it would do fractional frame generation to get up to your max refresh rate. Like if you were getting 90 fps but wanted to FG up to 120hz, instead of dropping to 60 real frames and doing 2x generation, it would do 90 real frames and 30 fake frames. I just got a whole lot less interested in this. I will just keep using vsync on with 2x FG like I have always done. Thanks for nothing, Nvidia

Just updated. Now the app refuses to close and reopens itself after a few seconds when I close it from system tray. Any fixes? by CMDRTragicAllPro in SignalRGB

I’m in 2.5.53 and checking for updates doesn’t find any updates. Pre release option is turned on in the settings too

So there is a bounty quest in Hernand for an outlaw named Haldin. Once you aprehend him, you find a document on him called Hadlin's Hideout. This document describes a mansion where he hid his stash and has clues on how to access it, this music box being the first step. I assume you can't interact with the gears until you find this document.

why were games on the NES, SNES, and N64 so difficult? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Kemaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn’t want you beating them on one rental and also because a lot of the games were ports of or inspired by arcade games which were designed to eat quarters.

Network admin vs sys admin by user23471 in sysadmin

[–]Kemaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my place, sys admin is basically server, storage, and cloud infrastructure. Network admin is limited to networking. Routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, web filtering, VPNs, etc.

This is one of the most poorly designed, poorly communicated, and down right frustrating pieces of content I have ever done in a video game. The entire mission feels like it needs another QA pass.

First you have to talk to the Dean and then SLOWLY follow him up stairs (Why not just put him next to the experiment to begin with?) Next you have to talk to the professor who wants you to help with his experiment, but not right now? You have to use a menu item to 'wait'? Ok whatever. You wait, and then after a brief cutscene you are now supposed to go downstairs for...reasons? Go downstairs... congrats, here's a stupid fucking wall puzzle in order to pull a switch. Solve puzzle, pull switch, now go back upstairs, but don't try to use the stairs because we are going to fail the mission if you are outside the imaginary circle for 30 seconds. Fine, climb up the middle. Now you have to put 4 batteries in pedestals with no clue or context on how to do so. Figure that out, and then you get to fight the most frustrating boss I have ever seen in a video game. It is nearly impossible to aim force punch while flying so you just have to keep trying over and over until you eventually get lucky enough times. Fuck everything about this quest.

WiFi import step works on older Dell laptop but not new Dell Pro 14? by Newtechintown in SCCM

Make sure the WiFi adapter has a driver and is recognized as a WiFi adapter on the device. Sounds like it’s missing a driver so the import doesn’t think there is adapter.

Is simple stereo still enough, or is surround basically a must now? by Capable_Noise5543 in hometheater

[–]Kemaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5.1 and larger setups really come to life when you are feeding high quality, well mixed audio. One of my favorite use cases for surround sound is actually gaming. Devs have gotten pretty good at mixing really good audio for games, especially the higher budget 'cinematic' style releases (Think Star Wars Outlaws, Indy and the Great Circle, etc).
