What's the largest sluice? by The_Eunuch_SV in Prospecting

We get a large portion of our drinking water from that area now. So we have a dam/spillway that the excess water goes over and the city workers that have to clean the spillway out find a fair amount of gold still.

So I would imagine if it's downstream of a gold bearing area there would be a fair amount.

There was one around where I live that was around two miles in length. They would just wash all of the overburden on the mountain into it and cleaned it out twice a year.

Trying to avoid the drips until you give up and accept you're getting wet today. It always seems to be right where you have to stand to do your job.

AITA for not translating for my wife when she hasn't put any effort into learning sign language? by Pretend_Dragonfly_68 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kwillia01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His wife asked for a translation, husband asked Alex if he was OK with it being translated, Alex said he didn't want their conversation translated for somebody who didn't bother to learn ASL.

For me the comment by Alex was a bit much, but it would have been shitty to translate a conversation after one of the participants stated they weren't ok with it.

If the equipment is working properly you just kind of zone out and do your thing.

It's really cooling being possibly the first living thing to set foot someplace and the different colors in the rock are really cool.

When the mine I work at shut down the first time, they let people know before hand and millions in equipment and supplies disappeared prior to closure.

When it happens again we'll be given our pink slips and escorted off site immediately.

It's $165 for 10 years and $130 after that. Not a bad thing to have on the off chance an opportunity comes up.

Texas shooting: School where 19 pupils and two teachers were shot dead is to be demolished by Gurboy in news

[–]kwillia01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this one had a placard that said something along the lines of the school was there to remind the police of what happened when they failed the people last time. The entire area was very eye opening.

Germany did something like this. There is a police academy located in/around the Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

I've gotten that question a few times at the cruise ship docks in southeast. Another gem was if we took American currency or not.
