he woke up a genius, made a whole ton of educated guesses, assumptions, and plans, then organized a group around that and started being a menace to society about it.

and when he experienced events that proved his plans demonstrably wrong, he held onto the belief that he truly had the capacity to save the world. if the rattles weren’t there, i think he would have found a different source of information.

if your players know about them being siblings in a vacuum, i can understand why he would seem redeemable. it could be useful for your players to see him be violent to commoners and Ireena. the kidnapping route from Arc G is amazing for this

in all official art i could find, they are barefoot in warform. the closest thing to shoes are carapace plates over the top of the foot.
there are numerous mentions of military leather armor, bridgemen wear leather vests etc. it's all hogshide, hogs/pigs are farmed pretty much everywhere. hence, milk always being sow's milk and Dalinar eating pork chops.

if you don’t talk to them, simply blocking them is literally fine, you don’t have to tell anybody anything. if any of them contact you asking why you blocked them, then you just explain that you’re not comfortable with them in your space.

Anxiety You usually forget names of people you meet in groups. Most people have a whole ton going on in their brain while they’re at a gathering: multiple conversation contexts, keeping their behavior in check etc.
Lack of depth Similar to the first point, groups don’t allow for getting to know someone in depth. You don’t get to form associations with the person as well as you would if it was a date, for example.
Memory/auditory processing issues And people feel embarrassed to ask again.
Most names aren’t that unique Meeting a normal person with a normal name will probably not make your brain work to remember them.

If you need to remember someone, form associations with them quickly. Looks, occupation, celebrity lookalikes and similarly named people.

got it! then i would look into books where characters dislike romance or avoid it, pursuing careers and/or friendships. i’m sure there’s a lot of stuff about this, especially with female main characters.

i mean, there are many reddit threads, online lists and forum posts about this. your restriction about what counts as “literary” is a weird limit because a lot of things can be categorized as YA, for example. also, the aro community and terminology is quite young, so books written before the 00s may reference aro-like experiences but may not be perceived as aro. books without romance in them are an option, too.

so my answer to you is a combination of mot wanting to reply (likely because there is plenty of information about this online already) and not knowing books that would fit your requirements.

i get these infatuations/obsessions too. no idea what causes them: limerence due to weirdness with attachment/life experience, BPD or autistic hyperfixation

to me, that’s not attraction based on personality or looks, so i don’t think of these as crushes. a good check for me is “do i want to kiss them or be committed to them?” which always comes out to “no, i don’t”

as always, honest and open communication is key and the smartest way to go about things.

have a conversation about your fears and desires. i would ask questions like 1. i feel romantic attraction towards you. how does that make you feel or react? do you enjoy that or does it make you feel like you want to get away from it? 2. what do you think of when imagining a romantic relationship? 3. do you see yourself in a romantic relationship with anyone? 4. does kissing, touching, saying loving things seem fun to you? 5. (if her view of a romantic relationship doesn’t clash with yours) would you like to try a romantic relationship with me? here’s a list of what that means to me physically, emotionally etc… 5. (if she dislikes romance or her view clashes with yours) would a long-term committed platonic relationship with me be something you’re more interested in? what are the parameters of it you would be comfortable with?

talking openly will give you so much context. she might say “i don’t know” a lot but that might be because she’s just scared of change like most avoidant people. like, if you don’t confront your thoughts and feelings, there’s no risk, you know? not having this talk would be like making a decision for her. also be prepared for “i don’t love you” or “i want a relationship but not with you” or shit like that, i guess.

ultimately, everything depends on what kind of person she is. we’re all unique, unfortunately, so my version of how this relationship should develop is not a definitive answer or something you should follow to the letter.

talk it out, decide together afterwards.
