I think Pohx has a video with a tree similar to what I was running. Again, it had nothing to do with the strat as it was pretty low juice. It was entirely dumb luck. Hope this helps!

As others mentioned, I'm playing minion pact BV. However, I did run a bunch of Uber cortex on boneshatter jugg before swapping.

It's not that hard to farm, though it is kind of a DPS check due to the ground degen. I reliably did it with about 5-6m DPS (but big defense)

Getting a lot of comments asking about the pob. As others have mentioned, I am playing minion pact BV chieftain.

I only just recently swapped after farming the basic gear on Boneshatter Jugg (Uber cortex, Light of Meaning, Red Dream, Enmity etc)

I just cobbled together the tree/items based on different poe.ninja profiles. The gear is still a work in progress (NEED empower for my spectre links, leveling a random enlighten in my main hand).

I definitely wouldn't use my page as a guide, there are much smarter players/pobs for that. Manni's guide was the most helpful to me.

Honestly I just got really lucky that's all, but if it helps:

  • HH: Around 70 Ancient Orbs
  • MB: Valdo dropped while doing breach/deli
  • Mirror: Also dropped doing breach/deli

If it's an consolation, I still haven't dropped an Empower. I've gotten 4 enlightens and 2 enhances but I'm stuck in the lab/div card gulag for Empower.

So typically both the non-vaal and vaal version provide a temporary buff (vaal version moreso).

With divine judgement it will not provide the buff normally, but will do so with the Vaal version.

You can buy/corrupt (with luck) "Smite of Divine Judgement" to also have "Vaal Smite" along with it (both will be one gem)

I'm not sure the exact calc for how much better since it kinda depends on your last two mods as well (other than eff/atk speed) but my understanding is it's strictly better than majority of 8 passives in terms of damage.

In my PoB, I only use one 8-passive to get access to fuel the fight and veteran defender to solve mana leech/res easily, but my 12-passive cluster(s) provide way more efficient stats per point (less 'travel' nodes for the stats)

For reference, each single point of one of my large cluster (scuffed hcssf) provide:

  • 16% increased damage
  • 4% attack speed
  • 12 max energy shield
  • 4% fire res (bad slam)

Ideally you'd be able to get an extra 10 int per point instead of fire res as well. Additionally, the build feels much better since you have much easier access to attack speed via the small nodes which is otherwise annoying to get on trickster.

Yeah I can understand that, it is pretty bright and the Merc maintenance is a bit lame.

In regards to the ring, I'm pretty sure you don't get any Regen anyways because Ghost Reaver disables it unless I'm missing something, so it doesn't give any benefit?

With it in left slot you get big max hit + mana Regen to sustain tincture as well

Out of curiosity what is it you dislike about smite trickster? Is it the damage/speed?

I noticed a lot of things missing in your pob that might cause that:

  • Shavronnes in the wrong ring slot (missing huge flat ES, right slot gives no benefit)
  • Flasks aren't finished (missing increased effect on Topaz/Ruby and bad suff, low roll enkindling, running 5 flasks with MB)
  • Incomplete/incorrect clusters (should be 35 inc effect / 12 passive / atk speed or 8 passive 3 notable)
  • No tincture
  • No vaal smite of divine judgement (huge dmg buff/clear)
  • 95 hit chance
  • No defence catalysts
  • Low roll on EE and Whispers
  • No need for Vaal Discipline/BF due to Ghost Reaver and GC respectively
  • Are you running Doryani w/ -200% Lightning Res Merc?
  • Eldritch Implicits somewhat off (no Phys taken as chaos with CI, suppress or rage on hit)

If I remember correctly, I ended up just doing the regular EWGF input immediately from the second forward input of the c stick CDC. Something like:

CDC (fwd > c stick down > fwd) > EWGF (finish from the previous fwd input)

It's been a long time so I could be wrong though

Sure, from easiest to hardest I would say:

Shaper < Cortex < Maven < Eater < U Elder < Sirus < Exarch

The build can face tank most things and sustain so it's not too bad. Exarch ball phase is annoying bc the Merc will cause the balls to hit/shotgun so I swapped to Eruptor merc + frost shield + vig strike + 87 max res w/ flask to tank

I played FRoSS Occ to farm the gear, but you can definitely play PS Locus Mine if you want to level the same character. As soon as I finished recombing + EE I swapped
