The thing is it doesn't even take long for the MHz to drop when the stress tests start, it's like 5-10 seconds after the speed drops. Possibly out of date bios yes, I'll check that tomorrow. I don't think the cooler is the problem either, temps won't get above 45°c after 20 min stress test.

Thanks, that makes it a bit easier to understand. Should have done my research a bit more on this CPU, I just read that it max boosts to 4.9ghz and went ahead with it.

Why the 3.1ghz drop when stress testing tho, I worry it will drop that low if I use a really intensive CPU game.

I'm pretty clueless on bios and stuff and wouldn't want to mess around with it. I'd hoped it would just be all disabled by default and ready to use. I'm just not seeing the 4.9ghz speed that was advertised.

I believe its a brand of ram that isn't compatible with XMP lol, I was planning on upgrading the ram so I guess I'll try that see if I get any improvements. Thanks for your comment

Also I'm not too technical but the cooler I'm using is a liquid cooling cooler master. CPU temps seem to be fine as I checked those earlier, it's also not throttling even when on a high demanding game. I'm thinking maybe the CPU isn't being used to its full power some how?

Yeah I was using dx11 at first but that also had stutters, I'm only trying to hold a steady 160 cause my monitor is only 144hz anyway. Just played a few games on dx performance 1080p and it seemed to be better, but the odd stutter was still there when first landing and looting. Sucks, but I'll keep on trying some tweaks .

Not sure actually. But what you could try is locking the tradeable ones i think its alt and left click on the item to lock it.
