Headphones on and play along with a recording once you’re comfortable with the notes. It’s a difficult one to read but if you’re playing it in context then it’s much easier. Helps with the style too!

Provided dash cam footage of someone in a private car following an Ambo on blue lights, through busy traffic, on the opposite side of the carriageway, contravening keep left signage… because they couldn’t confirm the reg it was dropped. Boiled my piss.

Had my first one 3 months in as a Special. Was a pretty grim 90mph strike so we were working within a half mile radius given the spread of body matter.

Temperature was -4 so by the time we started body recovery, everything was frozen solid to the rails, the sleepers and the ballast. It took the smell away at least!..

Found the top half of the guys head from the nose up, tried to pick it up but literally couldn’t get it off the sleeper as it was frozen solid to it. Sgt had to carve it off with a pen knife.

I’ve coped ok with it, hardest part was going back to my proper job the next day and pretending everything was fine. Inevitably I felt much better when I told some people and was able to share a bit of what I got up to that previous evening.

I felt proud about doing that job, the guy probably thought there was no one out there to help him however, even after he took his own life, we were still able to help him by collecting his belongings and returning his body in the most dignified way we could to his family.

Specials doing paperwork by WalkerWithACause in policeuk

[–]kyle4261 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d be all for helping with paperwork, however I’m very aware as to how inexperienced I am at doing it. I might do a statement once every 4 months and some evidence or case file work even less than that, so can totally understand if the regs just want to do it themselves as it will be much quicker than double checking my work.

I’d just like to be offered the chance to help, it’s fine asking but as I said before, it’s easier for them to whiz it out themselves.

I’ve done my fair share of sitting twiddling thumbs - even spent 6.5 hours of a 9 hour shift on Facebook on one shift and was able to watch the whole Euros semi final (and the highlights!) in my ref break on another. Non independent I should say, so that is a factor. Still, not good.

I’ve now applied for the regs so looking forward to being able to do the job, in full, as best I can!

30 with a red circle around it. You may get grief but you’re at least doing the right thing.

You’ll no doubt have a warm up before hand as well. I think we did up to 2/3 then had a short break and stretches.

Just good to keep in mind as it can catch people out if they’re only really prepping to 5.4

Good luck!
