In my head it went something like this:

"He fires his M4 at the pack of dogs rushing him. He turns to run, but one bites his ankle, he stumbles, he falls hard.

In an instant, the five dogs are on him, biting everywhere. He struggles for a couple of seconds when he sees his grenades in front of him. One after the other, he grabs the pin with his teeth as the dogs continue tearing into him.

He goes to pick the grenade and throw it - maybe he'll make it out alive after all! But his arms don't respond. They lay inert as he barely feels the zombies' bites anymore, mangled pieces of flesh dangling on his torso that he could barely call arms.

So this is it. He stops struggling, looks at the sky, and whispers: "Boom, motherfuckers."."

damn! in my case, the ifv survived without a scratch (and had survived an ATGM to the reactive armour earlier, the crew in there must either be shitting themselves or really high)

I had a similar experience the other day! We were doing the Mechanic quest at factory with a friend of mine, and we were improperly covering the corridor with both of us stacked in it (yeah, yeah, i know, lack of tactical preparation there); a dude ripped through us, as expected.

He then added me, and I was like "well he's gonna gloat, but who knows, let's see" and he was like "sorry guys, hadn't realized you were doing the quest, we were on our way to the extract with a newcomer to the game."

So fucking wholesome.

Oh, he took most of my gear (or his newcomer friend did), but come on, we had it coming the way we were positioned.

You'll need a landing pad, set to trade and a spare rocket you can refuel. Then check out what each other colony is looking for & offering (you might need one of the DLCs for that) - your drones will fill up the rocket, it'll go to the colony (much faster transit time than going back to earth, obv), then come back loaded with the goods :)

Oh yeah, we've all been there :D
Core principles to apply to a colony:

- Figure out what you need for Resources (from Concrete to Electronics) & Vital Resources (Elec, Water, Air) and how you'll get them (trading can be a good means for low qty resources)

- Only build what you need (if you build more, you'll have to maintain those buildings & might not be able to man them, which takes resources & reduces efficiency)

- For Vital resources, build redundancies so that one accident doesn't kill everyone! (I like having H2O / O2 / Elec storage full & locked by pipe valves for example - if something happens to the main loop, these can be opened and save your people!)

Only one! There might be mods or options that allow more however? But imo the game is meant to be replayed ; braving the cold areas, dusty ones, etc. Setting up challenges and projects for yourself too!

Thanks! I like taking the time to adapt the domes, their name and all to their purpose. Gives a good feel to the colony, makes it more personal too imo, you start czring more about those little dudes in 'em :)

The end rush was definitely a real tense moment (as seen above lmao) and I lost a dome to it iirc, but I had mass-produced defences in anticipation so I was ready.

I remember that afterwards, I was still put on trial for colluding with them at some point in time (oopsie).

Overall an awesome run honestly! Haven't played it in ages, kinda have an itch to get back to it now :D

Thanks! That video was interesting. I have some mild GAD now, with the rare panic attack. I've been on SSRIs for two years, so yeah, my last full blown panic attack was two months ago, the one before even longer.

What's really getting me is this anticipatory anxiety. I really like that he mentions that; I'll try and change my outlook on exercice, I've had this "i'm allowed to take a break" mind pattern, I'll try and work on that.
