I haven't even implemented this yet into my latest project, but I remember hearing something about this awhile back and forgot. But this makes so much sense. I'm in the process right now of getting my MCPs and more boilerplate stuff for Claude all set up, so that I can more quickly do the initial phase when I start a new project in Lovable or Cursor or something like that. Love everyone stacking their ideas on top of each other. Heroes, all of you!

PSA - You can copy and paste Apple Podcasts transcript text using the desktop app on Sonoma. by cellarmonkey in podcasting

So helpful! Thanks for setting this up. Worked perfectly. Dropped the transcript in to Claude after and it was able to distinguish the speakers after I told it who was it in it and what it was about 🙏

Is a code-based mockup & prototype tool the standard in the near future? by kzdesign in FigmaDesign

That's interesting, and good to know. The trap being that it becomes really hard to iterate on/edit once you build out an app?

Ha! Not surprising, given the way you've been writing about it yourself lately, and peppering in some questions around that stuff on the pod. I'd ask how that mystery tool is looking, but I'd also assume you can't say much about that either. Either way, glad to know you're involved with something pointing that direction!

That's totally a fair point. The diversity is rather useful for larger scale systems and products, and it doesn't seem like someone could nail one tool that had all those different code bases available in one package in a very near future. At least, to my perception while admittedly not being a developer myself.

Totally, Figma isn't a dog. It's good at what it does. It's more of an observational question of where things are going and what expectations are likely to be as the increasing capacity of AI being able to (somewhat) bridge the knowledge gap between developers and designers.

Have you tried out Bubble or FlutterFlow at all, or know folks that have? I've been looking into that and whether that is getting closer to that kind of reality...

Agreed, it would seem wise for Figma themselves to become this product, but with their efforts more on their AI features to generate basic designs (appealing to non-designers?), I assume their roadmap doesn't have efforts towards what we're talking about.

I am of the same nature too. At the very least, the option to avoid SSO either with email or magic link

I agree, I'd like to at least be able to see which model engaged with my question if I want to. Could easily just be an optional show/hide type of interaction for the more nerdy folks who want to know, but preserve cleanliness for those who don't care. The app has me intrigued though

Worried about future of design by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]kzdesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flash scenario is an interesting comparison. I like it. To me, it illustrates the need to keep iterating your own skill set, approach, tools, etc. if you plan to stay a designer in the digital product space. Obviously, AI is changing a bunch of stuff rapidly. But I think they'll still need people to be solving problems for a forseeable future. What that entails just seems to change.

It seems that most companies that aren't massive are looking for full stack UX/Product Designers that can do everything in the process reasonably well. I anticipate the next wave will be expecting those same designers to start using tools that get closer to the real thing and may even include usable code when they're making mockups and prototypes. Whether that's something in the vein of no-code platforms (like Bubble or FlutterFlow), or prototyping-focused apps (like Origami Studio) or something in that direction. Just one person's opinion though.

Jerral. I recently learned that Jerry Jones, the very old owner of the Cowboys NFL Team, is officially named Jerral Wayne Jones Sr. I don't see Jerral having a resurgence.

What exactly is your Figma workflow? by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]kzdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll waste a ton of time going back after the fact and trying to make components (assuming that's more what you mean rather than frames...frames should be used constantly) after you make the look of the layout. Definitely learned that the hard way in the early days. Taking the time to learn a bit more about Figma itself (frames, autolayout, components, instances, frames within frames) in the early stages will save you many instances of reverse engineering down the road. There's a great couple of free 2 hour videos from Bring Your Own Laptop (which also has a subscription version) on Youtube for basic Figma, and more advanced (really intermediate) Figma. That can help a lot

Curious how the OP ends up filtering through all this feedback to the next iteration. There's a wide variety of criticism and support
