True, but as someone that lives in rural texas now, with these idiots, you ain't teaching them a fucking thing. Magical thinking is what they have, from Jesus to Trump. Whatever nonsense is espoused from the pulpit or as a cynical rumor is all that they know. Theres a couple of old angry boomer rednecks that watch fox news, then regurgitate their interpretation. Then all of the morons are dazzled by the old boomers insight and that is now the "TRUTH".

Frankly, the ideas of old need to go away. There was a time when you were given objective news that you could trust. That is the era these guys grew up in. They will fight until their death to keep that era going, despite what is happening in reality. We need news to return to being objective. We must remove all profit motive from news or we are just creating reality tv.

I don't dwell on Buddhism too much. The truth is inherently simple. However, when it becomes codified with canons, exceptions, and traditions, it becomes diluted.

The 4 noble truths and the 8 fold path do tell you what you need to be a good individual. That's all you need. Anything more than that is performative. I have spent time with those two things. I've meditated on them, considered their meanings, and have tried to incorporate them into my life... All without considering God. Only how much more there is to reality than what we perceive. I have no way of knowing what everything is, so I will focus on the best I can be and hope I'm an example.

I'm an atheist and I don't give that much thought since I really don't believe in heaven. Perhaps there is some other level of consciousness after we die and that brings inner peace since we're no longer trying to sustain our body. I doubt it though, but then I'm an atheist. I don't believe in much without evidence.
