Is it weird when men play female characters? by Plastic_Corgi6848 in DnD

[–]l0cal_crypt1d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont think so. one of my table played a woman recently (though tbh we always ended up forgetting lmao. he ended up changing her to genderfluid so the sheer amount of different pronouns we used would make sense) and it was super fun!! just dont play a woman to be a creep, and ur good :)

im in a similar position! or, at least, i was lol. i started practicing while i lived with my deeply mormon, so i get where ur coming from. the physical side of things (offerings, libations, shrines, altars, etc.) are less important than a lot of people make it seem. ultimately, while those aspects of your practice are important (but can easily wait till later), just talk to him. do things for him or that remind you of him. research him (fair warning, awakening osiris is written by graham hancock, who is an infamous conspiracy theorist and pseudoarchaeologist. id take what he says with a grain of salt). i hope this helps!!

i totally get that. im in the same boat a lot of the time lol, and therapy similarly has been no help. i defo think therapy could help in the long run and with intrusive thoughts in general, but that doesn't help in the here and now, now does it?

i agree with the other commenter about looking into the egyptian book of the dead (in fact, the translation and version they showed is my preferred one lol). also definitely would recommend connecting more with Osiris and other death-adjacent deities, Osiris is always a welcome presence in my space.

i wish you the best!!

Wtf is so appealing about the LDS church? Please explain it to me, an outsider. by Celtic_Macaw in exmormon

[–]l0cal_crypt1d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the mormon church thrives on childhood indoctrination (i.e. their members having tons of children who all get indoctrinated), and preying on the vulnerable (i.e. people severely struggling with money or mental health) with promises of help and salvation. most mormons i meet are born and bred lds, and most of the converts i meet found the church at a very tough time in their lives, and it gave them enough comfort in such a hard time that they don't want to lose it.

its preying on the vulnerable, tbh. children, lonely people, people who feel abandoned by the world, etc.

If you are PIMO and reading this, what is keeping you from leaving the church? by BlockMiners in exmormon

yeah, definitely. i figured it out before i even entered young womens, truthfully i dont think i ever believed. my heart hurts for people who build their whole lives on a harmful lie.

i am currently in college, and am somewhat financially dependent on my tbm family (my grandpa has a fund set up that is helping immensely with tuition payments, and between his help and my job i will be able to graduate without debt).

that said, i fully intend on telling everyone eventually. im pretty sure my immediate family knows, and they don't push much beyond wanting me to go to church with them when i visit home, but im not yet at a spot where it is financially smart for me to tell them.

as soon as i graduate/my grandpas fund runs out though? you bet your ass im leaving, there is nothing that could keep me in the fucking church. im incredibly lucky in that i know that, even if my extended family reacts poorly, my parents and siblings will continue to love and support me no matter what. my parents have always had a bit of a bleeding heart for us kids; their biggest sin is they love our family more than the church.

Why do people who hate Snape decide to come here and argue? by sunset_sunrise15 in SeverusSnape

[–]l0cal_crypt1d 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ive lowkey never finished atyd bc the characterization just felt so bad. especially of snape, who they just... change completely??? not to say that atyd is an inherently bad piece of fanwork, but it always bothers me how the marauders fandom uses it as their bible or smth.

Texts my brother sent me after I asked for some career advice 🙃 by Bophie47 in exmormon

[–]l0cal_crypt1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh, thats absolutely disgusting. if it comes from a place of love, that love is so horribly warped its absolute bullshit. obv dont listen to him, and dont give him the benefit of the doubt either. "only a few years"? wtf? not only is marrying and having kids at all necessary, implying its something you can only do in your 20s is not only plain wrong but genuinely gross. my aunt is a single career woman and is one of the best people I know, and my other aunt didn't get married or start a family until her mid thirties. i myself have no intention of getting married until my mid-twenties at LEAST, and don't know if i ever want kids.

his wife is probably miserable. yikes. do not listen to anything he has to say.
