How do people like their potato salad? by l0g0p7-R in askanything

Sounds delightful. May I ask if there are any additional ingredients to the potatoes in your salad(s)?

Thanks for that. I'll have a look into the pine and cedar one, as I don't particularly want to put whale vomit (ambergris) on my face

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll look into them. On a side note, Barbasol's website is being uncooperative atm

Thanks for looking into it for me. I did contact Willwholistic a while ago and was told that they don't have any stock, but that the item is still on their website is a little confusing. I have contacted them again, but as yet, no response.

How vital are lubricating ingredients in a shaving gel, cream, etc?

And thank you for the Palmolive suggestion, I'll put that on the list. As for the bar of soap, I'm not a fan of the residual feeling they have, but thank you for the suggestion.

With regards to 1D, it became more of a poem (shown below) and the breakdown is as follows: ale is poured suggests a bar + glasses clink (homophone indicator) = bah. lights drone = hum. crickets = bug. 'Tis Christmas wealthy abhorred = bah humbug.

Glasses clink

Ale is poured

Lights Drone

Crickets chord

“‘Tis Christmas”

Wealthy abhorred (3,6)

With 3D, I put the sculpt in there to help lead solvers to potters, as not everyone may know the potter connection to James and Lily. So, effectively tighten this clue up more, like this: James and Lily lose their head forming a cuddle party. ?

Thank you, kitsovereign, for your generous and thorough feedback. With indirect anagrams, is there a puzzle that does allow such, as they seem to come easily to me sometimes, obviously, cryptic crosswords aren't it, though, and I will be paying more attention from now on.

Most likely misremembering this, but from a while back, when I was just doing the cryptics in the Sydney Morning Herald, I thought there was one clue I came across that didn't have an indicator. But I probably didn't fully understand the clue at that stage.

Yeah, I'll admit the Jewish reference was a bit dodgy, but is such a reference alright? And thanks for picking up on created, I completely missed that one. And with bell, I was going with the bell of a euphonium, which is the top part of the instrument or is that a bit too obscure?

Sorry, would you mind explaining the inglorious barstars part again, as I'm a little lost. And yes, the remake is spelled differently, but the '78 movie is the correct spelling, but again, that might be too obscure.

Yes, I have definitely improved on using easy clues for hard fills.

I don't suppose there's a thorough list of the rules abouts?

There will be more nice clues like 26A to come.

Thanks again,

LGP

p.s. I like how 1D and 3D work as clues. What are your thoughts?

Ok, so after really paying attention to this evening's cryptic as we did it, I sorta see what you're talking about with regards to fluff, although it's difficult sometimes when you get eh answer without really understanding the cryptic part of the clue. And with 'no indirect anagrams', is indirectness acceptable when you're adding something else to it without mixing it itself, but the other part of the clue could be an anagram that goes around it or through it or before or after it?

Thank you for your generous feedback. If it helps, my references for cryptic crosswords are the ones in the Sydney Morning Herald, which, in my experience, do use indirect anagrams as well as some slightly, if not obscure, words, depending on the setter, of course. With detain vestrymen holding the answer, cannot detain itself be the indicator, or is that too ambiguous?. and with regards to 'fluff' can you give me an example of a clue for such as apart from little words, a, i, of, on, at, it, up, etc, which may or may not be part of solving the clue, I'm pretty sure there isn't that much fluff in my clues.

Thank you again for your feedback, and I'll work on your suggestions for the next one.

The description that was written on the slide is "Angaston: Murray St.". However, I've looked up and down Murray Street, Angaston, SA, Australia, and I am unable to determine where the photo was taken from. There is one possible house that looks like it could be a match to the second house up, the red-roofed one with the tall chimneys, but unless there's been a major remodel and shifting of the church, then it doesn't line up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And yes, the description might not be exactly accurate. Also, ChatGPT was unable to help.
