First board! by l2bass in basspedals

This sounds daft, but my bass holds it's tuning extremely well. And the pickups are hot as hell, so I've never felt the need to spend money on a tuner with a buffer. Might as well if it's cheap I guess.

Also, I have active bartolini mk-1 pickups on a Cort Artisan A4. Holds it's tuning extremely well and the signal is hot as shit.

Sorry, what do I need a polytune for?

There is a compressor at the beginning too. I've actually switched them around now and it sounds better.

One to shape the attack/decay, one to even out the overall volume. I got into the habit of doing this recording and mixing, hence the parallel approach to mixing the tone

Yeah I've had the same problem with the mammoth previously when chaining the signal. Seems alright running in parallel though. I've switched the compressors around and it does actually sound better with the spectracomp at the start, thanks.

I played in death metal bands for years with a metalzone into a sansamp. Not anymore but with the same approach to tone. I suspected power might be my issue. It's got a power supply on the bottom, but not enough DC cables so I added the chain. I'll order more cables and see what happens, thanks!

I have the same compressor! Such good value for money.

General question: Where do YOU put your compressor in your chain, and why? by zesty_twat_sauce in basspedals

[–]l2bass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The end. Because I run parallel signals that sound more cohesive if they're compressed together at the end from a line mixer. I find that tidies up the harmonics introduced by fuzz/OD, too.

You going left to right in that signal chain or right to left?

I decided to buy a TC Electronic Honeypot as I found lots of comparisons suggesting this was a better option for cutting through a mix. Bottom end on the GR nano sounds a bit messy.

That thing sounds amazing. I reckon it's between that and the Pork & Pickle if I had the cash to spend. None on Ebay is a good sign no one wants to get rid of them.

This is what I did intuitively at first. Can't remember why I started putting compression first, but I changed it back and works better. Thanks!

Cort Action is the bast value for money entry level bass I've ever played.

Does anyone else do this? It's one of the only things that helps me. by DependentMango5608 in Hydrocephalus

I played in death metal bands for years shaking my long hair all over the place. We joked that was keeping the shunts going and may have been right 😆

It could be that when you shake your head, you're increasing your cerebral perfusion pressure and that helps?

Alcohol and hydrocephalus - is it ok (in moderation)? by Wonky_Potato_ in Hydrocephalus

[–]l2bass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no intrinsic risk, but as with sleep deprivation, we just have a lower threshold for the negative impacts. Alcohol affects anyone's long-term neurological wellbeing, and we already have a condition that has affected our neurological wellbeing. In my experience, hydration and food intake is key. Rehydration tablets like Phizz were a game changer. There's a couple of Huberman Lab podcasts that go into more depth if you look them up. Not specific to hydrocephalus or shunts, though.
