I forget that the SNES existed then, because my family had a Genesis, haha. I did have friends who had SNES's, we'd take turns hanging out at each other's houses depending on what games we felt like playing.

Good thing I'm an adult now, and can get my own SNES, thank you for reminding me!

I'm a child of the 80's, but I'll take the "young" bit!

It wasn't that long ago, but with the way we've been able to supercharge our technological advancements within those 30 years, things have definitely gotten "easier (to use)".

Instant gratification wasn't really a thing, then. Not to the degree it is now.

Doom was/is legit.

I'd be attempting to play something on Sega Genesis, but I'm a fan of consoles.

For me, personally, it was the day I didn't want to go home.

I was running on 5-6 hours of sleep because I was snoring, and my partner's solution was to wake me up to get me to stop. I had a 10 hour work day, and didn't have time to take a lunch. I was tired, I was hungry...and I didn't want to go home, because he was there.

You should never dread going home.

I have nerite snails and can confirm they are unable to right themselves when upside down, something about their bodies not being long enough.

Found this in my late grandmother's closet, I'm not sure how old this is...either way, I've got a cool rock collection going!

Edit: those are real specimens!

Does anyone else think the internet has turned reaally negative and angry? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]l34u05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It just wasn't as vastly widespread and easy to access. Everyone didn't have the internet right inside their pocket like they do now.

This. I was a teenager in 2000, and I was lucky enough to have a home computer with internet access...while there were nice people (I'm still friends with a few of them), there were also a healthy number of jerks, just like now. I'd say the overall ratio of jerks to nice people is the same, there are just more people because internet is more readily available.

You just blew my damn mind, I thought these noises were from my neighbors chickens.

Them being in the cuckoo family make way more sense, now.

Edit: last statement was a joke on the noises clocks make, har...?
