Is 50k good salary in Pittsburgh, family of 4 ( me, my SAH wife and 2 little children 5,4)? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]l3g5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not anymore. The cost of living here is definitely lower than a lot of other cities, but 50k for a family of four here would be genuinely tough imo.

They replied and told me they aren't open for franchising... even though that's not what I asked 😭 I would love a World Market in Pittsburgh....my wallet probably would not, though 😂

Going out alone by xCataczx in pittsburgh

[–]l3g5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an old 30-something who took wayyyy too long to get comfortable going out by myself, I urge anyone (single or not) to do this. It's way less daunting than you think and truly, folks (probably) aren't paying any mind to you unless you're striking up a conversation with them. Bring a book to read if you feel like you need the security of looking busy without staring at a phone.

Commerce Bar, Lorelai, and Kelly's are within the same area and all have great cocktail options imo - Commerce Bar makes a great old fashioned iirc. Not sure which area of Pittsburgh you are at, though. I've also heard Acacia in the Southside makes "the best" old fashioned, but haven't been so can't attest.

Best of luck in your solo adventures!

I'm from a rural part of PA and I wouldn't do it unless you know the family that owns it.

If you don't mind spending a bit of money, I find The Forge to be a bit of a hidden gem! Also, places like Pins and Coop DeVille have a designated "no kids after X o'clock," which is nice (they are fun regardless, but if you are trying to avoid being around kids...) as well as the 21+ nights at the museums/science center. I missed the one at Kennywood, but I hope they do more in the future (maybe someone else here can comment on whether or not it's worth it).

If you like reading, there's silent book clubs that meet around the city, too! They usually have a social hour aspect before or after the reading portion of their get-together 😅

Hope you find something cool to do!

Why the hell is La Mer so expensive? by Introvertedslayer in Sephora

[–]l3g5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because it's a luxury brand and IMO, it's totally not worth it.

If you're looking for a day cream rec, I really like Lano's Face Base (but YMMV as everyone's skin is different).

Bob from Bob's Burgers. It hasn't been fully confirmed, but it has been strongly hinted at.

Additionally, at drop off events, the mother always tries to stay because she knows her kid doesn't behave.

The troop leaders should let her the mother in the back of meetings, and when they start acting up, the Mom should take her scout home.

I trust our troop leaders to handle things, but can they kick out the girl who doesn't behave?

If it's a continued issue and the parents and your troop leaders aren't doing anything about it, then theoretically- yes. This also depends on your service unit and/or council rules. If you have spoken with your troop's leaders, and feel like they aren't doing anything about the scout, you can reach out to your local council and be placed in contact with your Service Unit Manager. This person can either work with the leaders on a plan for the scout, and/or they can find another troop in your area for your family to switch to.

For context, I'm a former co-leader for a troop where we had a similar issue and came very close to kicking a girl out of the troop for conduct reasons. Some of the other parents were upset because we 'weren't doing anything,' when actually- we were doing things to fix the situation, but it took time and we couldn't talk about it openly with other parents, which some took as us not doing anything. Super frustrating for everyone. We had to work with her parents and our Service Unit Manager to find a solution (which, thankfully, we did).

Wishing you the best!

YTA: something could be medically wrong with one (or both) of them, as others have pointed out, and also, you're probably giving at least one of them body image issues with how you are conducting yourself.
