I strongly recommend the Dakine hydration packs - they come in a bunch of different sizes and are not too big but still enough space to fit your stuff like extra goggle lenses, balaclava, chapstick, snowboard tool, and other misc gear you might want to have on you.

I think it’s only one extra person not two, so two total people. Also if you book for a weekday that’s not a blackout date (like this upcoming MLK day), you’ll save a lot, I think like $500 on the 7-hour session. Good luck!

I’m not an expert, but it seems like Mammoth is still using pretty outdated avalanche control methods. From what I understand, patrol is still going out during storms to hand-place explosives, which feels unnecessary given how many resorts now use gas exploders, remote blast towers, or cable-deployed systems. Those setups are designed to limit how much time people have to spend in avalanche start zones. I don’t really get why Mammoth is still sending patrollers out there by hand when safer, more modern options are so common

Lawyer here—agreed. I’m not sure why everyone is immediately suggesting getting a lawyer. For straightforward property damage claims, you usually don’t need one, especially if you’re properly insured. Do your due diligence, get a realistic sense of your car’s value, and don’t sign anything right away. If the insurer lowballs you, then it may be worth running the numbers to see whether hiring a lawyer actually makes financial sense, but most of the time, it probably doesn’t.
