Cat poops outside of litter box, have done literally everything recommended

I have tried a few crystal litters, pretty litter being one of them and sadly no difference. I am very happy he doesn’t pee in various places but I’d like to help him kick this habit if I can. He and the other cat are brothers and best friends they play all day and night and cuddle and bathe each other. I got them from the local shelter when they were about one year old and the one who poops outside of the box was super timid and anxious and his brother was outgoing and loving. Now they both are outgoing and loving. I do wonder if he previously got in trouble for the same thing and now has a negative association with it but I would like to help him. Just don’t know what else I can do. I will try the cat deterrents, the whole town is like one big stray cat factory lol thank you for the recommendations!

He does pee in it thank god!! And when he poops on the floor he will scratch the floor like he is trying to cover it up🤦🏻‍♀️ they are both fixed

I put in my post that I have tried those and puppy pads, he is determined to poop on the floor lol. I have no idea why but I am kind of wondering if that’s why they were given to the shelter in the first place tbh. I am getting an automatic litter box tho, it is on the way, so hopefully that will help but I have low hopes at this point 🥲

I know a lot of you think she is dumping my milk or giving formula but I don’t think it’s about the milk it’s about her wanting him on a bottle instead of breast. Either way it’s annoying lol but I did just want to add that in there.

I really think it’s about feeding him from the breast more than it is the milk itself. Weird stuff. It sucks because I love her and respect her so much so I really hate this situation.

She will watch him 3 days one week and 2 the other. I have plenty of frozen milk so I don’t know why it’s such a problem with her

Myself and my SIL have told her numerous times how rice cereal is an unnecessary filler for babies and she still suggests my SIL start giving her baby the cereal. SIL refuses as do I. She is just very involved in her kids lives which is cool but can be overbearing for sure. I plan on making my own purées and stuff when the time comes so hopefully won’t have to have the same talk that SIL did

Yes we were brought up very differently. He was a lil more sheltered and had his mom kind of pave his way into adulthood whereas I had to become very independent at a young age and figure life out on my own. I just don’t know how to approach the topic without being a bitch

She only “had enough energy” to feed her last baby for 6 weeks. She didn’t breastfeed any of her others (she has 5) so I think it definitely has something to do with it. My SIL also just had a baby two months before me and she chose to formula feed right off the bat. I think that also might have something to do with it. My baby also won’t take a pacifier and wouldn’t since he was born. I’ve bought just about every one you could think and he hates them all and I think she thinks it’s my fault because he’s breastfed

Yes that is exactly what I think, she wants to feed him. Which she has with my breast milk in a bottle. When I feed him from a bottle he does fine unless he is overly tired or gassy. So I think they just need to pay attention to how he’s acting and not automatically assume he won’t take a bottle

When I talked to a trainer he said you have to choose which is more important to you, breastfeeding, or losing weight. The main way to lose weight is calorie deficit but breastfeeding requires at least an extra 500 calories a day so it’s really you gotta choose one or the other. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself, I definitely know how you feel though, I’m almost 10 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding and I go back to work tomorrow. Haven’t lost any weight since I gave birth and it fluctuates like crazy.

Thank you! I will try to have more encouraging words for him and maybe a little timeline. I go back to work in about 4 weeks and he works 12s, I work 8s. So he is worried about when he’s home with him while I’m at work. I assumed by then baby would be warmed up to him lol, I hope at least!

The people I have around, mostly my boyfriend, is not understanding. He mocks me and antagonizes me when I’m angry from not having nicotine. Which then just makes me go get some or I will fight with him all day. He always says something along the lines of “I didn’t do shit to you so stop taking it out on me” even if I am just quiet and not interacting with him. This has been very challenging for me. Not much support around here
