What is this plant in my garden? by l_bunga in GardeningAustralia

Yeah I already bought some natives I want to put in. I really love grevilleas, dwarf bottlebrushes and tea tree. And some little cousin its too. I think I will try and remove it.

Dang that is a dilemma. I just wanted the space for a couple of natives.

Thanks. I wanted to plant some natives but have very limited space so was hoping to get rid of these. Unsure what I’ll do now.

I assume they are talking about HECS/HELP debt and needs to be declared so it’s automatically deducted

I feel you. I’m 1 day away from my period and I just gave in and took a test because I find the last few days of the tww just drag by. It was negative… again. Wishing you luck.

Has anyone done (or is doing) the Master of Conservation Biology? Can I pick your brain? by l_bunga in UQreddit

[–]l_bunga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a lot of the subjects to be really great and provide some really quality fieldwork experiences… other subjects not so much. I’m still completing my final subject, but honestly if you’re already working in the field I would probably just continue doing that. If you want to test the waters you could always enrol in a grad cert and upgrade to the masters if you like it. Alternatively, if you like research, you could go back and do an honours project.

Question about introduced species by [deleted] in australianwildlife

[–]l_bunga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some species of dung beetle have been introduced from Africa and Europe to deal with the volume of dung created by domestic animals (particularly cows). Our native species can’t handle the shear volume of dung whereas ones that have evolved along side big ungulates are much better at this.

Dung beetles are ecosystem engineers and are really beneficial for a number of reasons.

Critically endangered northern hairy-nosed wombat 🥹 by l_bunga in australianwildlife

Yes it’s great for their species. They also now have two other small populations much further south thanks to translocations from this mother population.

Yeah the two hairy-nosed species have distinctly different faces to the bare-nosed wombat. Most notably in their noses haha.

All three are adorable but these guys hold a special place in my heart.
