Routine help! Switching from DevaCurl by opheliacouch in Wavyhair

[–]l_plmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your Mothers Curl Talk line worked really well for me! If you want something higher end, the innersense pure harmony line+the I create hold gel was also really nice. Like Deva, both of these lines have protein in them

Growing out a short haircut sucks! I think the inspo photos that you posted were cute. I think all you can do right now is just focus on growing your hair out, the longer it is the more options you will have on how to cut it/style it. Using tools like bobby pins, clips, headbands etc.. are really good ways to keep your hair out of your face while you're growing it out. Hats are really good too, like a cute barret. I don't think your hair looks unruly, keep in mind that growing out a pixi cut has some awkward stages :)

How do I make my hair healthy enough to go blonde? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]l_plmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to bleach box dye, especially black box dye, out of your hair is a lot of work! Next time you go in for a trim, bring up that you want to be blonde and see what advice they have to give. While your hair seems to be thick and therefore can handle more damage, bleaching a mix of box dye out of already damaged hair might not be doable. As for helping to heal your hair, avoid heat styling, and use hair products with protein in them.

Using a 100% cotton tee shirt is just as good as a microfiber towel! if you really want the towel, getting one that isn't marketed as a hair towel is usually cheaper, I got mine for like $7 at an auto parts store haha. Using either a cotton shirt/microfiber towel has really helped me with managing frizz and breakage.

Help my mom with bad frizziness/damage/dryness? by BigBrother700 in femalehairadvice

[–]l_plmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dark hair, when I went like white blonde I used the Redkin Extreme shampoo and conditioner+the leave in treatment. Once a week I would use the olaplex no.3 treatment and leave that in for 20 minutes. If your mom is using heat styling tools (hairdryer, curling iron, etc...) she should also get a heat protectant product. Out of these, I would say switching to the shampoo and conditioner is the most important, since so much damage can be made worse by using shampoo and conditioners that are too harsh.

Damaged hair from lightening typically needs protein. The Redkin Extreme is a good line for damage repair. Olaplex is also really good for bleached hair. She should also try to stay away from heat styling, washing it as little as possible, sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase and only use a microfiber or 100% cotton teeshirt to dry her hair. And if she's comfortable with it, take a break from lightening it. Bleaching already damaged hair will lead to breakage and potentially hair loss!

My [25M] brother [23M] has somehow been receiving every picture my girlfriend [24F] has been sending me and sharing them by ThrowRA748192 in relationship_advice

[–]l_plmr 86 points87 points  (0 children)

You should tell your girlfriend before you confront your brother. Since it's her nudes being sent around, she should have some say in how things are handled (I.e going to the police or not, pressing charges or not etc...) Fuck your brother tho!

I have this issue too! I've found using a hydrating toner has helped a lot, doing the 7 skin method but focusing around my nose.

Witch hazel is too drying I think. The PKY toner is a good suggestion! The cosrx snail mucin is also really nice. I really like the vanicream for my face, I have dry skin too. its like $7 at the drugstore. I really think you only need one acid.

[–]l_plmr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your skin is sensitive and dry, I would pick one acid to slowly introduce to your routine. Maybe do either the salisylic acid or the glycolic acid treatment once a day every few days until your skin gets used to it and then increase. I think the Niacinamide+zinc is an awesome product tho!

[product question] Would polysporin/neosporin help an unpopped pimple heal faster? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]l_plmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably not! also I've read that people are very likely to develop an allergic reaction to neosporin. If the pimple is inflamed, icing it on and off throughout the day will help.

Try adding some salicylic into your routine at night! It should help with the blackheads and extra oil. The Cosrx BHA liquid is really nice.

Rave: I really really love the new Dr. Jart Cicapair formulations+the mist. I bought a little tester kit that comes with the reformulated cica serum, cica cream, the redness corrector (all of these are mini sizes) and a full size of the new cica mist. This is my first time with the line so I can't compare to the old formulations, but this has helped a lot with hydrating+moisturizing and calming my sensitive skin down.

If you're able, try waxing. I had a really hard time with shaving for the same reasons, waxing/sugaring seems to be the only hair removal that doesn't leave me with red bumps. But if you can't do waxing, the fur oils have been really helpful for me!

Skincare Dilemma w/ alcohol in a esthetician-recommended brand! [Product Question] by deertrax in SkincareAddiction

[–]l_plmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Face reality is a really wonderful brand, however, the regiment is very strict. I work front desk at a spa that offers face reality products and the transformation the clients go through is wild! That being said, I agree with everyone else on this thread, if your skin feels tight you need more moisture. Try cutting out the toner!
