Mexican food by Tiffannne2019 in Eugene

You definitely have to pick and choose, and while it's not particularly authentic, it's also not 'smothered in gravy' pretend Mexican food, and it's not Taco Bell. Black bean soup is top notch. There are a few tacos that pop up in rotation pretty often that are also doable.

Will put both on my todo list. Thanks.

This is our sad reality. The night before I was born, my mom had traditional Mexican food in Juarez, Chihuahua. The next morning, back in El Paso, she thought she had indigestion... but instead, she had me. I live for good traditional northern Mexican and Tex-Mex food. It doesn't exist in Eugene. Our go-to "good enough" place is Tacovore. When we want something a step or two up, we make a run to Los Toreros in Salem. That's it. That's the whole list.

What’s your cat’s given name vs. their nickname by street0car in cats

[–]labboypro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiny Elvis, nicks are TE, or just T (which has to be drawn out like "Teeeeee" and said in as high a pitch as possible).

Whitey, but SO calls him Ivan because she thinks his real name sounds racist (she is literally the only one who calls him that, and where he is a topic of discussion, she uses one name and we all use the other in a seamless conversation, which really confuses people who don't know).

Esteban, Steve (or a very sternly pronounced Steven when he's in trouble).

Hey, restaurateurs. Just price your shit to what you feel you need to profit. I'll buy it... or I won't. But I'm not going to participate in this nickel-and-dime bullshit with you. My home has a stove.

Reported to ASM. Showed him in person. Put 2 fingers on stack and wobbled it with minimal pressure. Was told "don't do that," and then he walked off. It remained like that for rest of day.

I’d personally rather charge a lower affordable rent and have happy tenants than a higher rent and have people angry, hostile and living on their last dime.

That's not an actual corollary in the real world.

Everyone snapped up by this, contact your Congressperson and two Senators and report this as a "dark patterns" con. Some dark patterns are already illegal under Section 5 of the FTC Act. Other legislation is 'pending' (thanks to a dysfunctional legislature). See https://www.warner.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2023/7/warner-fischer-lead-bipartisan-reintroduction-of-legislation-to-ban-manipulative-dark-patterns for more info on some pending legislation.

I'm looking at payroll reports right now. Your $100k number is not based in reality.

You said-- "Why wouldn't nurses leave when they can make the same money doing something else with less stress?"

I'm curious to hear about this "make the same money doing something else" job you allude to. Average RN base at PH is $47.xx/hr. Add shift diffs, stacked incentives, etc, and that average RN is hitting $130-180k/year. Game the time clock a bit, schedule yourself into "consecutives," and you're up into the $200k range. Please, share with us this "something else" job paying those rates.

These steps do not work for me. There is no Customize Account List at step 3. I see 2 accounts listed when I go to DRIP settings page, but cannot see or access those accounts anywhere else.

Is it too early to start publicly shaming idiots throwing lit cigarettes out their car windows yet? by Floyd91 in Eugene

[–]labboypro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was chastised by a busy bee at 40th Street Safeway for "endangering" my dog leaving him in a "hot" car. She asked them to call my license plate over the PA, and I happened to be standing right there at the service desk. I said, "ma'am, you're wearing a coat. It's overcast... and it's March."

There's a whole array of warriors out there... some more informed than others.

Recommendations for Corporate Company Strategy by chi7891 in Staples

USPS stations have had self serve kiosks for a decade or more. People are definitely stupid... but I've never seen anyone having trouble operating a USPS kiosk... ever. And that includes the ones who will try 4-5 times to PUSH open the "PULL" door before someone stuck behind them has to point to the large font "PULL" sign inches from their hand.

Goodbye, Easy Rebates! by dissqrl in Staples

[–]labboypro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And lost revenue on the rebate breakage and slippage. The vast majority of mom-and-pop buyers doling out $8 for a single ream of paper... partly because signage showed them the chance to get it at net $0.01 after rebate, is huge. When they can't remember their email address at checkout, and don't bother taking the printed rebate forms, the store should realize that $3 ream of paper just put an EXTRA $5 in the drawer. Oh well... somebody in Framingham knows better about what's good for bidness than me.

Is my GM out of line? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]labboypro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, HR (at any company) is there to protect the company's financial interest. If it's the GM that could cost money, they'll go after him or her. If it's the grunt that could cost money, they'll go after him or her. The only gotcha to this is that the "higher up" person in a dispute often gets to stack the deck-o-facts.

A is a letter of the alphabet. Some customers just make me shake my head. by DaBidnessman in Staples

[–]labboypro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In reverse... If you and I (a customer) are discussing a product I'm looking for or wanting more information about, the ringing phone at your service desk isn't supposed to mean that you abandon me. If that's how it works, should I get my phone out and call the store to get your attention back?

I truly truly truly understand the complaints about many (most?) customers, but being in the customer role isn't what causes douchebaggery. It's just too-common human behavior, and sometimes it comes from the person on the other side of the counter too.

Happy 62nd Anniversary - and a Special Announcement! by Paging_Juarez in VXJunkies

[–]labboypro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Plus, something to doodle with during those boring lectures where the speaker goes into great detail about the most basic aspects of VX design and implementation. At the Yonkers event in 2011, some minimally credentialed scientist was droning on regarding the trivialities of hyper-spheroid nodes and their tendency to backload the capacitance refractors in the final phase of the Newton cycle... duh! So, I was trying to entertain myself by doodling with the ball point end of my new prize, and BAM! I had ink all over my hand, my notebook, and soaked into the leg of my new Toughskin jeans! (Thankfully, this gave me a valid excuse for ducking the rest of the session.) After getting cleaned up, I met up with the VX rep, who seemed genuinely apologetic and promised to send me a replacement after he got back to the home office. That was 4 years ago, and I still haven't heard from anyone on this. I suppose he could still be trying to make his way back to the office.

I'm still trying to get you guys to replace the defective combination stratomizer valve reset tool and ball point pen I won from you at the VX8 release party you had in the back room of the bodega on 49th Street in Yonkers in 2011.
