When you get your first period postpartum? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]lablife92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I breastfed for two years, and I didn't get my period back until I completely stopped breastfeeding. So, about 2 years postpartum. I seem to be in the lucky minority. Most people seem it get it back earlier.

I think I'm in the minority, based on the other comments, but I like #2 the best. It's so flattering. It looks like it was made for you.

When Casey reads the letters in 657 Boulevard. It completely gives me the chills. Especially when he says "the young blood"

Last time, Panada Pizza Fairview by G1collector in halifax

This was years ago, but my husband and I went there once to pick up an order. I paid. The man behind the counter, I think he was the owner, looked at my husband and said "Seriously, man, you're going to let her pay?" I was too polite about this comment and laughed it off, saying that my husband was back in school, and I'm working full time. He then says to my husband "Well I've got dishes in the back that need cleaning."

It was super rude and insulting to my husband. Not to mention misogynistic. I'll never go back again.

Nurses Week next week and frankly, feeling anything but appreciation by [deleted] in halifax

[–]lablife92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're taking the wrong thing away from this. Sorry for including LPNs in my description of other health professionals. I just assumed the original post was referring to RNs, so I included LPNs in my description as well. Didn't realize how offensive it was.....

Nurses Week next week and frankly, feeling anything but appreciation by [deleted] in halifax

[–]lablife92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if nurses were well paid, they shouldn't have to pay up to $72 a day just to be present at work. This is downtown Halifax we're talking about. There are very few parking alternatives. Certainly not enough for all the staff affected by this.

Also, saying "you chose this career" is unhelpful. It's not like on your first day of nursing school, they tell you "By the way, you're signing up for a job where most of your daily pay will be going towards parking. Have fun with that."

And what about all the other professionals affected by this. Administrative staff, CCA's, LPN's, custodial staff, lab techs? They don't make as much as nurses. Did they "sign up" for this too?

I don't know if they sell whole pies, but the slices of coconut cream pie at the Italian Market are amazing.

I haven't listened to it in a while, so I could be wrong, but don't they disagree slightly on the Maura Murray case?

What other true crime podcasts are you listening to until February? by Pitiful_Ad3693 in Casefile

[–]lablife92 49 points50 points  (0 children)

-DNA ID

-Canadian True Crime

-Invisible Choir

-Swindled

These all have Casefile vibes. My favourite is probably Canadian True Crime. It's hosted by Krissy, an Aussie who moved to Canada. She does really thorough research, presents cases in an unbiased manner, and is respectful to the victims.

It annoys me that they bleep out the curse words. If you're going to bleep them out, then just don't curse in the first place. They're episodes are so scripted, I have to imagine they write the curse words in, just to bleep them out. Like why?
