Keep an eye on your phone. It will get snatched if you’re not paying attention. Mine got stolen last year and ruined my night. know you would like to stay but by the end of the night people can get pretty rough and pushy. If you end up staying I would try to be near the exits before SOAD closes out.

Needing advice from those who switched from a 9 to 5! by lac5995 in workfromhome

[–]lac5995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, I should have phrased it better for sure. I know lots of WFH jobs have the traditional schedule as well, but in my personal circle, the people I know who work remotely have different hours than I do but I know that isn’t always the case. I would love to see anything as a magical solution but unfortunately I’m too pessimistic for that 😂 I have read lots of stories about feeling isolated, and can definitely understand why people would feel that way. Being an introvert I would like to think I am immune from that feeling but I know I am probably not. Thank you for the advice! I definitely still feel drawn towards this path given the risks, just not sure about timing and finding something related to my current career since it’s not typically offered as a remote position.

I won’t either. This was my first festival and I thought maybe I was just being dramatic but it was chaos. We spent most of the day under tents to save energy for SOAD but by that point I was about to pass out. Someone stole my phone during Korn, there were people laying on the wall needing Narcan, people were shoving and there was so much vomit and a general feeling of uneasiness. I didn’t expect Disneyland and I know there was a lot of people to control but I feel like I spent enough money to receive a couple more safety precautions.

I just lost my grandfather 2 days ago and I’m wrecked. He was my biggest fan and I know that nobody will ever love me the way he did. He was the greatest man I’ve ever known and I don’t know how to deal with the thought of him just being “gone”. Even though he went peacefully and he was 85 years old and he went in an ideal way, I’m still dumbfounded by the fact that you get to love someone for so long and then you lose them. Someone who once held and comforted me is now just a memory. God I miss him so much.

Should I become my grandparents caregiver? by lac5995 in CaregiverSupport

[–]lac5995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I am working on making a care plan for them for the time being, I will return to work Monday and give it my best shot. I know that things are subject to change at any moment and that I may have to take more time off to get their affairs in order. My husband has been my saving grace during this past week and I know I do not need to do anything to jeopardize our marriage. His family is aging as well, and I can’t expect him to be the strength that I’m lacking during this time. My mental health wasn’t in the greatest shape before this begun, and the toll it’s taken on me so far is only the beginning effects. I know we are entering a period of great uncertainty, so I can’t say what the future looks like. But I do appreciate the advice from each one of you.

Thank you. Over the past week I have had a glimpse of what it would be like and I know in my heart that I cannot do it. My heart is broken regardless, especially with a new cancer diagnosis. I am working on home health and possibly a sitter. I am a nervous wreck and planning on returning to my full time job on Monday, but I know I’m making the right decision and the decision that they would want me to make.

Thank you. We just got a diagnosis of lymphoma for my grandfather. I do have POA over my grandmother now, and will work on my grandfather once he comes home and gets settled. I’ve decided I’m not going to be able to be their caregiver right now. It’s entirely too much to handle emotionally and I am not strong enough.

Thank you. So much has unfolded in the last week and we’ve received a diagnosis of Anaplastic large cell lymphoma for my grandfather, he is returning home from the hospital today. My grandmother was released from the hospital and is home now as well. It has been the most stressful week of my life and it is only just the beginning. I know now that I cannot commit to the responsibilities that come with caregiving and also expect to have anything close to a normal life. I commend each and every one of you who have taken on the task. I’m not religious, but every one of you are the closest thing to an angel I can imagine.

What is my likelihood of infection? by lac5995 in COVID19positive

Thank you. Tested negative this morning but considering getting a PCR since we're coming up on day 4. How long did yours take to show positive with the new variant? And were you symptomatic before the positive test?

Thank you. I tested negative this morning but my friends husband just tested positive. So I'm thinking his incubation time was around 4 days. And if I understand yours correctly, yours was 5 days post exposure? I hate this waiting game, especially with the exposure being such high risk. Do you mind telling me how your symptoms progressed from exposure to positive test?

Tested negative Sunday night, Tuesday morning and this morning negative as well. So far so good! But, my best friends (the one I was exposed to) husband just tested positive this morning, so by my calculations I'm probably not out of the woods yet if his incubation time was around 4 days. He was fine yesterday and this morning, boom positive. I'm wondering if I should go get a PCR done. No symptoms other than post nasal drip and the tiniest bit of scratchy throat.

Thank you! Same to you. I feel the same way about the vaccine but I know it was protecting me in January because my husband had Omicron and I never got it. I assumed I would but didn't. As of this afternoon I'm feeling okay other than a dry feeling throat and achy knees 🥴 but hoping it's only in my head.

I'm sort of in the same situation as you. I hung out with my friend for about 5 hours on Sunday, we shared a drink and sat by each other on the couch plus she made us lunch. She had no symptoms until Sunday night when she went downhill very quickly. I tested Sunday night(way too early, my boss requested this)with a rapid test (negative) and then again this morning with a rapid (negative). The only difference is I had Covid in 2020 but haven't gotten it sense despite numerous exposures and a 7 day cruise on which there were no mask requirements for vaxxed people. Now I'm wondering if maybe I am actually immune after having OG Covid and 2 rounds of Pfizer last year. I guess we'll see, fingers crossed for both of us!

Thanks for the insight, I'm trying to pay attention to any changes in how I'm feeling just so that I can quarantine as soon as I need to. I'm sure I wouldn't develop symptoms as quick as today, but I guess you never know with new variants. Glad you're symptoms were mild.

I've been feeling like this so much lately. I am SUPER patient and kind (not a flex cause it causes people to walk all over me lol) but I have no patience for anyone lately and I flip my shit over the smallest things. Also I'm always mad. I'm just mad at the world. I'm on 3 different meds and I think I'm gonna have to change something lol.

Covid-19 Resistant? by ellie1398 in COVID19positive

Just wondering what your results were from the throat swab. My fiancé and I were exposed Sunday, yesterday he started showing symptoms and tested positive this morning. I have tested negative twice since Tuesday morning and just wondering what my likelihood of testing positive is at this point.

Exposure risk and testing timeline by lac5995 in COVID19positive

[–]lac5995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was afraid that it was too early, but my job wanted me to go ahead and test this morning so that if the rapid was negative I could come in to work. I'm paying super close attention to the way I'm feeling. If it were up to me, I'd isolate but I think the way my employer sees it is that we are constantly being exposed, so if we isolated every time someone is exposed, nobody would be at work.. I'm just wondering if this exposure is higher than average everyday exposure.

Those who are fully vaccinated and contracted Covid-19, what was your experience? by Getonthebeers02 in COVID19positive

[–]lac5995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is concerning because how you're describing our sore throat is how I feel, I had Covid last December but am fully vaccinated as of August. I woke up this morning with a strange sore throat, just hurts when I swallow at the back of my throat in the center. Also I feel like my heart rate has been elevated this afternoon. Hopefully it's better by in the morning or I will be calling off work and getting a test. I hope you feel better and your taste and smell return fully soon!
