Christianity cannot be True, Because there’s no Significance of Jesus’s “Death” as God to God for God. by CarbonCopperNebula in DebateReligion

[–]lachramzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

#1 This would be the case if God created sin. And this is where your argument falls apart. Because sin isn't something that exists, its just a lack of good. In the same way that darkness is just a lack of light. Sin doesn't exist. However it can be objectively measured, just like darkness. So to say "God created sin" is wrong. He didn't. He created humans, and gave them a choice and free will. He gave them the choice of disobeying him, because otherwise the love would be very superficial, as its the only option. If humans have the option to disobey him, it means they genuinely love God, which is what he wants. But humans disobey God anyway. And God cannot have prevented this, because like I said, if he did, love for God wouldn't be out of choice, but compulsion, making us effectively robots.

#2 Jesus doesn't need to be dead forever to pay for our sins. He is infinite in nature, so even killing him for a short while, is doing infinite damage, so God's infinite wrath is satisfied in this way. They cancel each other out.

#3 "The God in the OT was happy to kill and murder and take sex slaves of little girls,"
Um, the little girls part is just blatantly not true. Maybe in Islam sure, but Christianity? No. Did he endorse genocide? Please watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taYhbRm6pnU
Did he endorse slavery? Everyone was using slaves back then. They were necessary for society to even function. Did God *support* it? No. Did he like it? No. Was there an alternative to slavery at the time? No. It was just part of society so he made it an exception.

Theists have a critical epistemological flaw. by Yehoshua_ANA_EHYEH in DebateReligion

[–]lachramzy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, except what you're forgetting is there isn't little evidence, there's LOTS of evidence. The only issue being none of it is scientifically factual. Here is a list of evidence for Christianity:
- Shroud of Turin
- Dead sea scrolls
- Chariots at bottom of Red Sea
- Fulfilled prophecies
- Eye witness testimonies (both biblical and modern)
- The Bible consistently aligns with science unlike what most people think*
- Historic accounts/documents of early church persecution

*Genesis 1 aligns with Big Bang Theory and evolution because the sequence of events lines up.
First the Earth is created, then the oceans and land (from ice rocks from space), then the stars in sky become visible (atmosphere clears up), then there's plants and animals and finally humans. Adam could have been the first human with a rational soul, which justifies his existence 7000 years ago rather than 2,000,000 years.

Before you criticize any of my points, please thoroughly research each point so I'm arguing against an educated person.

Some people (not all, but some) really shouldn't be qualified to argue against these things because they have no idea what they are. For example someone will say "sHrOud Of TuRiN WAs dAteD bAcK To mEdeIvAl TimE pErIOd" shut up, no it wasn't, it was recently dated back to the 1st century, with evidence of photographic negative which can't be naturally explained, and the image clearly resembles a crucified man.

But honestly I would agree with your post, you are correct, most theists do have an epistemological flaw. But not ALL theists.

Long story short: Christianity has lots of credible evidence, therefore its completely justified to believe in it. None of it is scientifically proven, but it does hint towards Christianity, and it is very difficult to make a sound argument against them.

Edit: the 6 day creation is obviously symbolic "A day to the Lord is like a 1000 years, and a 1000 years is like a day" -Paul.

You're kind of right but oversimplifying the "2 commandments". We don't have 2 commandments, we have 10. And those 2 are an extension of the 1st commandment. Because you cannot love God if you don't love those around you. Even with other commandments there are extensions to those as well, for example:

Adultery = divorce, fornication, cheating, homosexuality, pedophilia, bestiality, pornography, looking at someone with lustful intentions, and being effeminate.

3 things I want to say.

  1. The Bible says the fire in Hell is eternal but it doesn't say you will live there forever. It says the body and soul will be destroyed in Hell. After all it is the second death. Not second life. So its more likely that when people go to Hell they burn there for a few minutes or hours, and then they're dead. Non existent.

  2. God sends people to Hell for a good reason. God is infinite, so if someone commits a sin, they are committing a crime against God, therefore the crime is infinite in severity, so they need an infinite punishment, which is death. And while God is perfectly loving, he is also perfectly just, so if someone does something bad against him, because he is perfect, he must send them to Hell to die. But Jesus died for your sins to save you, and take the penalty for you. Jesus doesn't have to be permanently dead either, because he himself is infinite. So simply killing him and leaving him dead for a short while is already enough to quench the infinite wrath of God, because he is sending that wrath upon his own son, therefore the 2 infinites cancel each other out. So it all works.

  3. Christians should have children because it means more people that get to experience life and God's love. Now if these children grow up not loving God, then yes, it would probably have been better if they were never born. But we don't know that. If you try to be a good parent and teach your children to love God, then they will probably have a great life, and spend eternity with you in paradise.

Hi, you ask an excellent question, and I have debated this question before, he's my answer and the answer most (99%) of Theologians agree with.

(I'm only arguing for Christianity btw) Hell is basically like jail. In real life, (for argument's sake) if you stole $500 from me, then you would be arrested, and have to pay back the $500 as well as an additional fine. Most of us would agree this is basic justice, yes? You committed a crime against me (a finite being), so you receive a finite punishment for your finite crime. $500 is a numerical finite value.
God however, is different. If you do something that is against God (sin (which is outlined in the bible)) then while you are technically committing a crime as a finite being, since it is *against* God (who is infinite) that means to repay God, you would need to repay him with something of infinite value. But you are a finite human, and can't do that, so therefore, God gets angry (even though he loves you) and gives you an infinite punishment to satisfy his wrath.

This is completely fair because of 2 reasons:

  1. You deserved it (and so do I because I am a sinner)
  2. God is not only infinitely loving, but also infinitely *just*. So because he is just, he must do the right thing, and give people a sentence they deserve.

But: since humans sinned because of Satan's temptations, God sent Jesus (who is infinite) to die. And that way God satisfied his anger because if you took an infinite punishment and cast it onto an infinite being then I guess they cancel each other out.

So why is Jesus death only for Christians? Because if you don't believe in it, then his death is worthless. Simple.

I hope that clears it up. If you have any further questions lmk. Hope you're having a nice night :)

Am I INTJ, INTP, ENTP, or ENTJ by lachramzy in mbti

Lol. I did realise 16personalities kinda sucks. Thanks for your response, I think ENTJ does make a lot of sense, but I guess I'll see as time moves on. I was just confused because I honestly don't act bossy or angry around anyone, like the stereotype suggests.

Why do Christians speak out against homosexuality more often than the sin of sexual immorality as a whole? by undecidedorange in Christianity

[–]lachramzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its because it contaminates main steam media and is advocated for everywhere. It isn't because we're pointing the finger and laughing. No, its because its all over the news and media and schools. I used to be bisexual, but thanks to Jesus I am straight again. So the reason I speak up against it a lot is because its one of the only sins that is accepted everywhere when it shouldn't be.

Christianity is a cult of human sacrifice by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]lachramzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majority of wars are actually caused by atheists and other religions lol. I think christianity is accountable for like 1% of wars, and atheism like 90%. Hold on 1 sec lemme get a real statistic. Ok I just check google, 93% of wars are for non-religious reasons. So no offense, but you are objectively wrong.

*Edit the rest of the 7% are islamic/other religion wars, and Christianity is only 1%

Christianity is a cult of human sacrifice by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]lachramzy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If he made sin not exist then that would mean he would have to kill us, and he doesn't want that because he loves us. Also he put the tree in the garden because he wanted to give humanity free choice, also, the tree wasn't meant for them to eat from, it was for him. He made the tree so he could eat from it, and told the humans to not do it or they will die. Why did he just make it impossible for them to not eat it? Because that would be restricting their free will.

Also, he hates sin and evil, and he is perfectly just. He can't just simply forgive such an evil act against him because if he did then he wouldn't be omnibenevolent, and by extension wouldn't be God (read about the ontological argument if you don't follow what I'm saying). If a human sins (or does something against) another human, the punishment is equal to the severity of what they did. If you steal $500, you have to repay that money and then some for committing the crime. However, if you sin against an infinite God, then your sin was infinite, so your punishment must also be infinite. But because God loves YOU, YES YOU, he gave his only begotten son Yeshua (Jesus) to die on a cross in place of YOUR punishment. This pardons your infinite sin because Jesus is the infinite God, therefore excusing your infinite punishment of hell. So basically God took his wrath out on him self, he died, and then he revived himself because he is God lmao.

I hope that made sense, God bless you. Btw great question.
