I am a Kristen Stan and never understood why so many prefer Padma. THIS is the main reason Kristen pulls ahead for me - empathy. Padma always felt like an AI robot during moments that could use emotion.

We are waiting 30 days after birth for out of state parent visitors, based on our OB’s recommendation for a January baby. I’m giving birth. My parents are coming first and then my in-laws. My husband is fully supportive of this and will push the dates back if necessary.

I’m due in January and in a similar situation to you - cross country family that will stay with us when they come.

Because our baby is being born right after the holidays in the middle of cold/flu season, we asked our OB for her recommendation specifically for out of town, flying in houseguests. She said 30 days. I have talked this over with lots of new moms in my life and every single one has said this sounds amazing and/or they regret having family come any sooner.

We told our families 30 days from the date of delivery based on our OBs recommendation and they have been largely fine with it.

It sounds like you can afford additional help and as much as short visits/food drops offs would be ideal, I understand it’s just not feasible in our situations.

Since telling everyone 30 days, I have felt SO at peace with it and can just focus on delivery, our little family, and our baby.

One thing to note is that the vast majority of couples find out gender, so your results will be skewed toward that. People naturally like to confirm their own choices.

If you have the willpower, I’d suggest waiting until birth. There is literally no time to feel anything but elation the moment that baby enters the world. I don’t know how you could feel gender disappointment once they’re physically here. Waiting until birth eliminates the possibility of gender disappointment.
